City fan suffers broken leg after being attacked at Leeds game

I am still trying to work out why the club put out that garbled statement exonerating leeds fans when nobody, including them, had a clue what had happened? Just what the fuck is our club doing, shit on us at every opportunity. By saying leeds fans weren’t involved they basically said it was Blue on Blue. Cunts
Panicking and trying to brush things under the carpet asap

It’s like when they released a statement condemning our fans for tragedy chanting against Liverpool when what was sung wasn’t even fucking tragedy chanting.

And didn’t support the fans against the UEFA coach park shit show, whilst the City club officials were whisked away via a private UEFA entrance and exit road to and from the stadium.

Instead the club stayed silent publicly, regardless if they may have spoken nicely to UEFA in private.

The very same UEFA that tried to destroy City, with City having to fight UEFA at CAS.

Some reports suggest the attacker was the City fan who bought tickets for the Leeds fans. If true then it was blue on blue.

4-5 Manchester City

Manchester City

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola speaking to Match of the Day: "I'm so old, and the players don't respect me! They don't have to treat their manager in that way.

"It only happens in this league. We played a fantastic game... Listen, there were some really positive things in what we have done. To come here, to score five goals, and the way we played in that first half.

"In the end, it was a question of character, resilience and defence. They did what they had to do."

On Fulham's threat of a comeback: "Of course, I was concerned. But this will help us in future games. Every game is a new team for some players. You have to make a process to start to correct."

On Erling Haaland: "It's incredible, impressive. He was outstanding, today he was unbelievable. He made a fantastic goal. Hopefully, he's starving hungry to continue with this club to make more and more goals."

Manchester City Pep Guardiola speaking to Sky Sports: "What can you say? Only in this league can this kind of thing happen. We played well first half even though we conceded at the end. Second half we started well but after 5-2 we collapse a bit. All the goals were the same, not defending the edge of the box, defending with anxiety. They have a fantastic team, the players who started and came off the bench. We take it, important game. We take three points and move forward.

"They made a step up, nothing to lose. We are not trying to play. Football sometimes you can't control the situations.

"We won 5-4. The game was exceptional until 5-2. Sometimes it can happen because the opponents also play."

On keeping pressure on Arsenal: "We have to push the people up front but we have one many good things - pressing, chances. You can't control 90 minutes always in football and step by step we will improve."

On Erling Haaland: "Congratulations to him. So happy that he delivered 100 goals and that we could give him the victory."

Wrong thread :-)

It’s called damage limitation.

But with the people running City, it always back fires, because they don’t tell the truth and lie on purpose.
But how was it damage limitation jrb? By saying there was no Leeds involvement (which may or may not be correct but I doubt they KNOW that) they have just said it was only Blues

I'd guess it's to protect their ticketing policy. Which is to make hundreds of tickets available, if not more, through their official ticket touts. I'm not saying someone who bought a ticket from an online tout was responsible but imagine the uproar if it was, and it could be traced back to the club.

I think they should keep their gobs shut on who did what and let the police do their job

Have you been on the pop Paul , what’s this got to do with Dave Whelan’s plaster cast:)

OK, time for a huge generalisation albeit with a kernel of truth: It's a European thing. Europeans, especially southern Europeans, are more trusting of authority and so their leaders can say and do what they want with little pushback.

We could have a political discussion about authoritarian leaders, but people here don't trust authority - never have and never will. A lesson to be learned by those in the club with authority but I won't hold my breath.

I think the lack of clarity and uncertainty beggars belief that the club announced that leeds fans weren’t involved, I am gobsmacked they didn’t keep their gobs shut until the police had investigated
It also beggars belief that the club described a broken leg (or possibly suspected broken leg when they commented) as a minor injury.

It's not damage limitation, that's just nonsense.

If it does turn out to be Blue on Blue I'll guarantee that no one on here will hold their hands up and say "I was wrong". Perhaps the club did know when they put that tweet(?) out but were unaware of the damage to the fan. Did he not get back up and sit down again? Maybe it wasn't apparent until scans at the hospital. The trouble is that if they say nothing they'll get slaughtered and when they do they get slaughtered.

The modern world I'm afraid, absolutely no time is given for actual facts to come out as people want to get their version out first.
