City fan suffers broken leg after being attacked at Leeds game

Im not sure if this has been tried before…but rather than restricting the away end to 3,000 tickets…if the demand from the away team is going to be 5/6 thousand fans…then give them a bigger away end…erm like they used to & theyll stop buying tickets in the home end
It's a simple solution, and it might work ..... but the bottom line is that if you give the visiting fans more tickets, then it means there's less tickets for our own fans, which definitely wouldn't be popular when the bigger fixtures come up.

I am still trying to work out why the club put out that garbled statement exonerating leeds fans when nobody, including them, had a clue what had happened? Just what the fuck is our club doing, shit on us at every opportunity. By saying leeds fans weren’t involved they basically said it was Blue on Blue. Cunts

They're kidding nobody ...... all the eye witness accounts on here have been adamant that Leeds fans were involved ..... if you're gonna allow visiting fans to mix with home fans at highly charged football matches then you're not gonna get away with having a peaceful gathering forever!

I was agreeing with you about the damage limitation comment.

If the club were aware that it wasn't Leeds fans why wouldn't they say so, it perhaps stops some idiots looking for revenge armed with a knife in their waistband. There's more than enough morons out there to make it a distinct possibility.
All they had to say was that they were aware of an incident and they and the police were investigating, and possibly wishing the injured fan well. But they seem determined to try to sweep this under the carpet by claiming no Leeds fans were involved and that the injury wasn't that serious.

I do know that the club have spoken to the injured fan and he said he felt they were trying to sweep the incident under the carpet.

Out of interest, where are you putting these thousands of extra away fans ?

What needs to happen is for security to be seriously improved for the Galatasaray game. I understand City Matters are pressing the Club for assurances. Some good might come out of this yet

Can I ask you a question. You have total confidence in City’s statement that was very wrong on the extent of injuries. Why?
You need to reread my post Tim.

An ambulance was called to take the bloke to hospital, so the club was wrong to dismiss his injuries as "minor"
And as for the "no leeds fans involved"
Shouldn't they wait for the preliminary police report before issuing a public statement!
That depends on the timeline does it not?

As for your last statement as I said, PERHAPS it was to stop any pricks from reacting badly.

To be honest I haven't even thought about it as I just don't see it happening .....

But should the club ever consider it then it's they who will have to offer the solution .... but you can only shift the existing City fans around so much, and the club have 7,000 extra seats to fill with the new stand extension .... I cannot see them moving away fans to the North Stand as things stands, but know knows once that hotel opens and a fair number of them book rooms there???

There's been Blues on here who have seen stuff online that indicates it was Blue on Blue, what the truth is yet is unknown.

But theres no segregation in the new North stand from City fans as far as I know?

The only games we can give extra away tickets are in cup games (whole 3rd tier where we move cup scheme members elsewhere) .....premier league games there is no chance it's ever going to happen as things stand. Away lot normally get 3 tiers but don't always sell that many so many times 3rd tier is given to us.

I don't suppose it's much consolation to the injured fan whether it was a Blue or Leeds fan who put him in hospital.

But the optics of the club's statement were awful. Should have said as little as possible.

Club propaganda. They jumped blindly to the conclusion that no Leeds fans were in 93:20 and effectively threw a stick in the spokes of any police investigation.

If it's proven that Leeds fan(s) were involved, the club will probably say that Blues started it.

There were Leeds fans in every part of the stadium. That's the fault of the club and their apparent policy of profit over safety.

They'll defend their original kneejerk comment (conclusion) to protect their own arses. It's a shithouse operation by the ticketing and security team.

One ongoing issue is will the events deter people going to the aid of other fans, in distress. The lad in hospital is upset that two Blues who tried to help him got arrested.

I didn’t say it was damage limitation that was a different poster I was responding to. Whatever the club did or didn’t do they had absolutely no need to say it wasn’t leeds fans involved they should just have said the police are investigating
Spot on. And there was absolutely no need to downplay the injuries sustained either, regardless of what the usual suspects on this forum are saying. That tweet was an abomination and should've been retracted almost immediately after it went out and replaced with one that showed empathy for the fan who was assaulted and stated that the police were looking into it. The fact that a follow-up tweet along those lines hasn't gone out - as far as I'm aware but someone please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong - is nothing short of astonishing.

I don’t dispute what you say and haven’t read all 48 pages, just wondering why they are adamant, I mean did they have shirts underneath jackets / pin badge / cheer a Leeds attack etc?

Or maybe make the tickets more accessible to city fans - i.e cost, ease of transfer etc and fuck off these 3rd party sites. Why should away fans have extra £30 seats when city fans are prohibited from going because they would have to pay double

was a normal thing in scotland to give more tickets to the old firm teams.

Now alot of teams just give them the normal allowance, and focus on their own fans or even leave them empty.

What the club need to do is STOP allowing tickets to go on reselling websites, and STOP the club allowing away fans in the posh seat areas
