Fair enough. Just didn't need to play that shot. Great to see Root get his 100.He wasn't amazing but he steadied things for an hour after Smith and Stokes threw away their wickets, he's made sure Root doesn't run out of partners to get his 100 and I'd say he's probably been the 4th best batsman today. Not bad considering he's batting #8.
It's also his first ever pink ball game and first test in 3 years!

Funny how no-one ever comes out with this when England win a test match! Sure, it's frustrating at times but it's entirely possible to score at 5 or more runs an over without chucking your wicket away. They just need to rein it in at times, especially away from homeBaz ball has taken the country miles backwards.

I think Vaughan was on comms earlier and pointed out that's exactly how they dealt with Bumrah in the summer, which took them 3 tests to work out, and they've completely forgotten the lesson.
