How many of this England team would get in a combined Ashes team? Sadly I think it would probaly largely mirror the Australian team. Maybe Root, and Brook when on form. Stokes as an all rounder, but too unpredictable. Who do you think?

Away from Australian conditions I think we'd hammer them, we just can't play over there. The crowds, the huge outfield, the tennis ball bounce, the heat, the kookaburra. They were hugely lucky not to lose 3-1 in England. They have a great bowling attack when Cummins and Hazlewood are fit and 2 top batsmen in Smith and Head. The rest I don't really rate one bit. We're making them look good. Half of these would never get a test cap in some of the great Aussie teams.

Root when “on form”, he’s the worlds number one batsman and just come off a big undefeated ton. I know we are shit but let’s not pretend Australia have 5 batsmen better than him, or 5 bowlers better than Archer for that matter

Dinner arrived at the wrong time there for us. If we can get to stumps scoring at close to this rate with no more than 1 or 2 wickets down we could be close to parity.

More likely to lose 7 or 8 wickets instead though!

I’d say Duckett, Root, Brook and Stokes in Australian conditions.

Root is the absolute best batsman in the world and it ain't close imo

Sorry. I think I missed a comma in the post. I meant Harry Brook when on form. I'd put Root in no issue.Edited it now.

Pope for me been shite for years and still gets picked and you can bet he will play next match! Duckett is a worry now seems the Aussies have sussed him out! If brook comes in and slashes a wide ball then what is the point of test match cricket! It’s not a “Test” it’s a slog 20/20 he is playing!
