The Super League was never going to by allowed, not by the fans, and more importantly not by the Government, as it turned out. Club owners couldn’t just change 100’s of years of football history for millions of football fans in this country by themselves without consulting the fans, the FA, the PL, and the Government. And if the clubs thought they could, they were absolutely deluded in that belief, and in their own power. It was dead from the start. City eventually admitted they made a mistake by joining the Super League money trough. For all of PSG’s faults they decided not to go into the Super League and came out of the sorry Super League saga with huge credit. Whist City bragged about coming out of the Super League first in this country. Otherwise known as damage limitation.
So let’s forget the Super League fiasco, and the clubs greed, that backfired horribly.
One more very, very important point. The stadiums in this country would have been empty. I along with millions of other football fans want to watch PL football, not Super League football, which we have now got with the CL league format and the knockout stages.
The government will take "whatever action necessary", including legislative options, to stop plans for a European Super League, No 10 says.
FA and Premier League officials are told they have the UK government's support to stop the plans.
