47 | Phil Foden - 2025/26

As far as natural talent goes foden is on a par with gazza and joe Cole who never really fulfilled his potential . Foden has the world at his feet he just has to believe in himself .
I recently said on Twitter that he can win a Ballon d'Or if he wants to. He is that talented.

Lads so fucking one dimensional... He's either asking for it on the half turn to right of oppo goal or hes picking up and passing backwards.

He doesn't beat people
He doesn't carry the ball
He doesn’t get his head up and stretch play
He only goes wide to tika taka and go backwards
Can't use his right foot
Can't win a duel even if heavily in his favour
Can't play wing

Everything has to be tailored to him, for him to be effective...
Only so long you can keep doing the same thing over and over again and it keep coming off. Never reaching those 23/24 season level again.
Just a tad reactionary eh?

We doing the whole he's back again after couple good games vs shite teams?
Happy he played well in them but we need a lot more consistency from him. That was his first league goals in 2 and a half months and he's playing second striker.

So, at LEAST wait until after today before trawling back through threads in an attempt to farm likes.

No trawling back from me it’s where’s I landed this morning . If you are happy with that post more fool you (if that’s possible)

According to you he doesn't reach any heights.

Foden is one of the best examples of a player who can beat people, carry the ball and of a player who plays with his head up. Was this intended as some kind of joke?

- 6 take ons in 12 games...
- The least progressive carries of all our attackers.
- Ahead of Tijani but behind Cherki and Doku for progressive passes. These being the 4 attackers that have played centrally.

His upturn in form this season is one of the main reasons we are second and not 8th or 9th.

I don’t think we have improved much at all from last season other than he has started playing again.
He's certainly enjoying a little purple patch in terms of goals and assists, which for Foden is critical,.as quite often he drifts on the periphery of games,.and he rarely stands out as our best player in a game where he hasn't scored

My only slight concern is that he had a similar purple patch last January and then for some reason it all stopped

Might be a purple patch in terms of scoring, time will tell, but what I cant get my head round is people claiming he’s not playing well this season even when he doesn’t score or assist. He’s been playing deeper and crucial in the build up and pre assists. It’s night and day from last season where he was often anonymous. If you look at MOTM threads you see he’s high up in the votes for practically every game.

Newcastle was a bad one but can’t think of many of other poor performances since he started in September

Prime example of this was the Liverpool game. Played a little bit deeper and got no goals or assists, but still played really well.
I thought he had a decent game at Newcastle. Some excellent link up play with Cherki. Missed a sitter and that seems to have defined his performance.

I can see why he got pelters for the chances he missed as they stick in memory as you say. But yeah I agree Liverpool was a great performance, he’s been class since he started again. And he ain’t been playing second striker every game either

5 goals in a week is a phenomenal return. Brilliant finish today, the assist will get all the attention but it's pointless without the superb finish. more goals this week than Saka has managed all season.
Assist was ridiculously good but agree, not an easy finish and he definately wasn’t expecting it so fair play on turning it in!

I don't know why anyone ever doubted him. He had a bad season last year, but you don't suddenly become an average player after four years of being one of the best players in the league.
