26 | Savinho - 2025/26

I hope nobody’s been watching Guardiola’s post-Sunderland press conference. The gaffer seems to have a different opinion to Bluemoan.

He must have a clause in his contract about playing - his performances are woeful - yet Pep plays him time and time again and sticks up for him ...

I mean, we already know Savinho has incriminating pictures of Pep so I imagine he's just upped the blackmail game

Epsteinesque.

He’s apparently going to be playing ‘a lotta, a lotta, a lotta meenoots’, so the people who preface everything in this thread with ‘I don’t want to sound negative/be critical’ had better book a block of therapy sessions.

Pep even eventually turned out to be right about Eric Garcia, so I'll have to trust that he can see what nobody else can with Savio.

Still, I hope either him or Bobb get loaned out in January and we get someone better in, because we need better if we're to challenge Arsenal this year

The only one I can think of is Palmer.
Savinho at the start of last season was better than any of those we released.
The big difference is that he has gone backwards and seems to be getting worse month by month.
At his age, the likes of Gittens and Morgan Rogers, just 2 examples, were improving and still are.
It has to be some sort of a mental attitude thing because his first touch is quite good and his touches after that get increasingly worse.
I’d prefer willo flood back

Nothing new. Savinho should be the best winger at 21 already while Doku got 2 more years to actually get better.

"Savio is going to play a lot of minutes"

The angry lads are all still spot on though, Pep knows nothing about wingers or football in general.

The irony is if Pep didn't have to rebuild his confidence he'd play him less. Looked absolutely distraught at the end of the game today, Ruben, Nico, Pep, Nunes all consoling him. But that's how you want our own players to feel I guess?

Watch Pep start him over Cherki against Real Madrid.
if Cherki starts against Madrid on the right side we start 0-2 down with Vinicius and Mbappe on that side against Nunes. Savinho will more games than people expect alone due to his profile. There will be some very angry posters on Wednesday

Just feel for the lad. He is clearly bereft of any confidence. Well done to the lads (and ladies) in block 1 for getting behind him when he took the corner, late on - I feared the worst when he walked over! He could do with a couple of stuffy finishes and, perhaps, we’ll see a different player. Like others, I’m not certain about him but genuinely couldn’t give a fuck about the Spurs thing last summer. Rooney nearly came our way, Slippy G nearly went to Chelsea, Lampard to Inter etc. Not for one second comparing him to those, but just reflecting that they are all legends at their respective clubs and their flirtations didn’t tarnish their legacies.

Pep clearly feels he’s worth persevering with and that should be good enough for us all. Whilst I remain in the unconvinced camp, I will continue to give Savinho my support and desperately want the kid to prove me wrong…

I just want him to produce and if he produces, we all will come around to him. But right now, I’ve seen nothing other than a couple wonder goals and assists last season and cwc to make me think he is the guy going forward.

I think some are too far gone to believe in redemption. He’s young and will improve. Like all young players, he just needs to listen to Guardiola and watch how the senior pros (e.g. Bernardo) behave on the park. We are blessed with some ridiculous talent, but if they’re not prepared to graft, then they won’t be here for long.
