But its not in the heart of Salford like the Willows was! I have lived less than half a mile from the Willows all my life, and went once! That was because I was one of the lucky lads in Salford that had a dad who was there and bought his son a season ticket for City so Rugby League wasn't important to me! None of my mates were as lucky as me, so they used to save up/blag their way into the Willows to be part of something and be proud of Salford, At a stadium that they could see from their front door and school playground! The new stadium was perfectly located. Right on the M60. If the trafford centre can take 250,000 people over a weekend, then the AJ Bell stadium can take 10,000 easily. You couldn't get a more accessible location for a stadium. Walking distance from the tram stop at the Trafford centre. A massive car park all the way round it as well. It's gone tits up because the interest isn't there. People aren't bothered enough to watch Rugby league, and that is why so many clubs struggle to stay alive. The interest from younger generations is dwindling. And can you blame them with the draw of football available right on their doorstep.
The Willows was perfectly located, The AJ Bell is located next to a human waste plant!
150 years of memories and community gone? or a perfectly located stadium? What would you chose mate?
