Peps probably having a wank over this ;-)

fuck messi Maradona was better and dare I say if Sergio had stayed in the bum league LaLiga is he would gave outscored him

Pele says hello, as does Eusebio, and Puskás, and (OK he was a Man Utd player) George Best.

No idea how you judge players from different times though? How can anyone be called the best when they played under differernt rules? Just enjoy the greats.

Anyways, back in the day, Fat Tommy from my Sunday league team would get well sloshed on a Saturday, but still drag all 20 stone of his hangover self on to a pitch and nobody got past him. He was magic, scared the crap out of people, but bloomin magic. Brings a tear to my eye does that memory.

The GOAT stuff it's always silly, there are always a group of players on every period in such realm and at the same time there should not be any problem if for anyone he is the favorite one and therefore the best. Cool to see it so involved and still on Messi alike.

To be fair Best wasn't and isn't in the top 4 of rags best players, even in his own side and before the late 50's and 60's side they had supposedly better players.

Duncan Edwards

Denis Law

Bobby Combover

Eric Cuntona

Fake Ronaldo

Best was the best player in the world when he wasn't even the best player in his team or league, that rag propaganda runs deep ;-)

Watched that MLS Cup last night and it was fun even if the quality wasn't top. Great atmosphere, drama etc. Messi walked around the pitch and then served up two brilliant assists

Football would be better as a whole if more Americans got behind their own league instead of being gloryhunting bastards

And that is the beauty of it all, everyone has an opinion. It is impossible to rate one player against another from a different generation. There have been so many great players, we should be thankful they graced the game we love.

Bobby Combover had me laughing

By the way, my lovely pops, a die hard Evertonian, he said the best player he ever watched was Duncan Edwards, and said we lost a true great in that awful event, and he saw Pele and Eusebio at Goodison in 1966.

Correct, in 40 years they'll be talking about how Beckham was the greatest player ever.

He's the best i've seen. Other opinions are valid and a case can he made for a few others but seems weird how some are absolutely adamant that he's nowhere near.
best of this generation alongside fake ronaldo,,cannotnbe denied and up there with the top 5 ever

however arguements can be made the spanish french and american league are not the most challenging andmodern football is very protective of players, while Maradona played in a tougher more physical period while also off his tits on drugs and alcohol, which is why for me he is the greatest.

I saw Best play and thought nothing of him, yes he was a good player but there were others who were just as good or better. No matter who we are we are susceptible to this shit marketing even in to 50's they made sure certain players got the good end of the fatty cake.

Personally I have never subscribed to the best in the world theory just decent players in good sides.

Here's a great player.

349 goals in 399 appearances :)

That did make me laugh
But it is true that every week someone was trying to break Maradona's legs
On the football field of course, not his dealer for unpaid invoices

Best was very inconsistent. A great entertainer certainly but more hype than substance. He never played well against City. More like Grealish than Greaves ( who was a true great).
