Must admit I get mildly irritated when people cite Ronaldo's Euro win as a mark of greatness.
I think he clearly is a very fine player but in those Euros Portugal generally played very poor football and were unconvincing against generally mediocre opponents.
Their best match was undoubtedly the final of which Ronaldo only played about 20 minutes.
When Maradona's Argentina won the world cup he was very clearly player of the tournament by a country mile.
Messi maybe slightly less so but he was still wonderful and Argentina were deserving winners after losing to Saudi.
In the Euros Griezman was player of the tournament and Portugal were very lucky.
Wasn’t there a stupid rule for that Euros which meant they qualified in 3rd place from the group, too?

Unless Messi really does go to Miami this summer, which would be tragic, the next 2 or 3 years is basically going to be Messi overtaking every statistic Ronaldo cares about.

I think his form for PSG is mostly down to basically saving hinself for the world cup. The rest, having neymar and mbappe up top also being the main men.

Now it is out of the way, wouldn't be surprised to see more from him at PSG the rest of the season.

Messi was the greatest before this world cup and he remains the greatest now. No one comes close.

Not one English player ? Bobby Moore, Bobby Charlton, Gazza ...
Moore and Charlton were genuinely outstanding players on the world stage. Gazza you're having a laugh he was a genuine talent who had a decent World Cup '90 but he never really made his mark on the world stage.

He's been PSG's best player this season!

Last year he had no preseason and had the move to Paris and I think at his age, it ruined the season for him. He looked much older, and I don't think Pochettino's tactics helped.

This season he got fit, has a coach who knows what he's doing and has been immense from day 1.
