Tino Livramento

Do we even need him?

Would be like a Rayan Ait Nouri signing.. finally we have a RB.. a RB that Pep won't play!
I don't know if we specifically need him, but we definitely need a long term right back with world class potential. Nunes has done well, but can anyone honestly say that he's got it in him to become one of the best right backs in the world? Because that's what we're trying to replace.

Gotta say I'm a bit confused where all this hype for him is coming from. I've not watched him loads but he's never caught my eye the times I have and his stats hardly suggest this defensive beast people are alluding to. Add that he also contributes almost nothing in attack and the sums being thrown around seem more than a little steep.

Offers nothing in attack ???
You have never seen him play then.

More likely Liverpool have tapped him up to not sign a contract we don’t do that! Liverpool thinking he can cover the two fullbacks positions! Also isak will be in his ear..

Huge attacking numbers. Forgive me, I didn't realise only the vast majority of fullbacks create more chances than him.
I would sooner have a full back who first and foremost can defend.
"No player completed more passes in the final third than Livramento (18). Newcastle's best moves flowed through him. Their tempo quickened when he got on the ball. The entire tactical blueprint Eddie Howe rolled out was supercharged by this tactical tweak to get Livramento on the ball at every opportunity.30 Nov 2025"
And not for the first time Mr Fucking Stat.

You can't quote a niche stat from a single game and then call me Mr stats because I showed his goals and assists haha
I agree that it's more important that he can defend but his defensive numbers are not good either. I know stats aren't everything and from what I've seen he's a solid player who's tidy in possession and I'm sure he'd do well here but I'm not sure he's world record fee for a fullback good

Assist stats depends how a team uses a fullback and he's more likely to invert and assist Newcastles wide players than overlap and assist the goalscores,so there's that.

Often dictated by the players skillset though right. Trippier got forward loads to cross, Hall does it now on the other side. Why does Howe let them get forward but not Livramento? Probably because he's not as good at it

No idea, and don't really care. Pep will know his skills, and if he wants him to play inverted and thinks Livramento is a good fit that's fine, not my concern.

Nunes does have it in him because he currently is one of the best in the world at RB.

Not to mention the lad we are trying to replace wasn't close to being the best in the world in his last 12/18 months.

If Nunes is happy to play that role I'm happy to let him learn on the job because he can definitely improve aspects of his game that will eventually show him to be one of the best.

I think we have tapped him up and had a conversation with him. He was apparently all set to sign a new deal with Newcastle now he's delaying that new contract.

Tonight I have had 3 texts from separate geordies. Basically all 3 are offering to drive him down to the Etihad if we are still interested. Said barring the City game he's been dreadful this season

Twitter full of the same comments. A lot saying his attacking output is shite, likening him to Walker and saying perhaps that what City want, a quick RB with more defensive instincts. A few saying he was better at LB also.
