Will we win the league this season?

If you genuinely think there’s a reasonable chance that we don’t win any of those games, then I suggest you get a bet on. I reckon the odds are pretty big on us not winning any of those games. I’d estimate 33-1/50-1

9 fold accumulator when you’re betting against the favourite in every one? Way higher than 50/1 I reckon. Stick a tenner on that and you’re winning big time.

How seriously should we take Aston Villa?

Villa are on a club record winning run of 8 games. It includes results such as:

Villa 2-1 Arsenal, Brighton 3-4 Villa, Villa 4-0 Bournemouth, Leeds 1-2 Villa.

Chelsea were looking strong a fortnight ago or so and blew up. But Villa's run is impressive. How seriously should we take them? Are they on the threshold of a new force in English football, or just on a crest of a wave.

The BBC have an article on them after their win in Basle: https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/live/cy078djkzjkt and that is what sparked my thought. I am up early today to catch a train to London.

They are at West Ham on Sunday. I hope they crash. The last thing we need is another team coming in to crash the party, although it would make it very interesting.

I really thought Arsenal would have enough but they look fucked in early December.

Should have won easy tonight and they've limped over the line.

They're so poor from open play that it really isn't sustainable.

Arsenal just aren’t that good, are they? I thought they’d steamroll the league this year to be honest but they’ve just had two shots on target at home to bottom of the league. That’s not good enough.

They’ve relied on two own goals to scrape a win.

Not sustainable at all, that, and unless Arteta sorts his defensive mindset out then I can’t imagine they’ll win the league.

All ifs and buts obviously…but I’m a lot more confident of a genuine ‘fight’ for the title than I was a month ago.

The 25/26 title winners will be the worst champions since Leicester. Whether that’s Arsenal, Villa or us. Just very average sides when compared to what’s gone before. Our 17/18 side would get 100 points again with this level of competition.

Villa are out performing their stats in nearly every department.

They have done immensely well over the last couple of months, but averages will play out as the season goes forward.

I think statistically they are 12 points better off than where they should be. Most of any team in the league.

Us and Arsenal on the other hand match our stats pretty fairly in comparison and are performing as our stats show.

Villas fixture list since losing to Liverpool has been kind as well. Only Arsenal stands out and that was at home.

We can win this title if Rodri comes back fully fit and/or we sign players in January

Doku and Cherki are the best creators in the league and two of the best players to watch.

Watched Arsenal tonight. They were a bit tired after the CL game 3 days ago. They are better than that. But Saka aside, they lack top quality in attack. Gabriel, the CB, is their most dangerous attacker (set pieces).

I agree.

Low 80's wins the league this season in my opinion

Yeah I think that’s about right. Although I think this current team has the potential for another period of dominance in the near future. If Rodri can get fully fit, we will be very hard to stop.

Big if that!

A few weeks has turned into months!

Not getting my hopes up over Rodri.

I think his mind is with Spain at the World Cup, and in all honesty, I think he might push for a move to Madrid in the summer if that contract isn't signed by March/April and if the rumours his wife/girlfriend has a doctor's job in Madrid next year.

Not a chance do City let him round down his contract and he himself will want that £400k a week contract ASAP because he is 30 soon.

Makes me wonder it's the reasons we are seemingly all in on Anderson.

Assuming we play to our best and you find your hard games tough, I'd go:
CityArsenal
Leeds (H) - WinChelsea (A) - Draw
Fulham (A) - WinBrentford (H) - Win
Sunderland (H) - WinVilla (A) - Loss
Palace (A) - LossWolves (H) - Win
West Ham (H) - WinEverton (A) - Draw
Forest (A) - WinBrighton (H) - Win
Sunderland (A) - WinVilla (H) - Win

18 points City - Losing to Palace (A)
14 points Arsenal - Drawing to Chelsea (A), Everton (A) and losing to Villa (A).

I think the timeslot of the Everton game makes it tough for you.

I also think our Sunderland (A) game is a lot easier than it was for you, they have 8 or 9 at AFCON. 4 of which started against you and 2 came on.

That's my optimistic view, realistic is we get about the same points.

7/7. Albeit expected that to be way easier for Arsenal.

I had us losing to Palace tomorrow, so I would love to get my first one wrong.

Yet the English teams are the best in Europe and have won 9 from the last 10 games vs Spanish teams.

The league is better than ever in terms of the quality of midtable and bottom half teams. Any game is a potential banana skin. Arsenal are top in the CL with 6 wins from 6 games and struggled against the worst team in the PL.

The team that win the league this season will be far better than Leicester.

I think it says a lot about the quality of football in general. It’s nowhere near the level it was. The teams in Europe are very poor bar 2/3 sides.
