Russian invasion of Ukraine

There's some shit being written, especially by the media really, but increasingly by our politicians.

A reminder that 3 1/2 years ago, putin tried to take Ukraine (all of it), initially it took quite a bit, but was forced back, and it lost the majority of what it took. in fact this all started 6 years earlier when it annexed Crimea.

For 2 years it's taken next to nothing. It already has an enormous front line, so it isn't go to extend it into the Baltic states, especially with NATO (with or without the US) stationed across much of Europe, with superior forces, and weapons. For 3 years it's basically been losing @1000 soldiers a day (let that sink in), and a large chunk of it's modern weaponary. They have no strategy of how to win, other than meat grinder, and that will eventually run out the way they fight.

So all this talk of "if Ukraine falls, the rest of Europe will follow" is the biggest load of bollocks that can be spouted, with what exactly ?

Russia is a mess, it's demograph of people, is an aging, often poor population, with less and less people of fighting age to draw from. It's economy is more or less fucked, how does anyone propose that they will take "Europe" at any point in the near or even middle future, with what exactly ? (sorry for repeated phrase.)

Nobody knows the state of their "nukes", but I'd wager they would cause more damage to themselves than Europe, if they tried to use them, they won't.

Nobody ever answers these questions. The people in charge of Europe, spout this bollocks for a reason, it's called propoganda, and it keeps it in your heads, deliberately.

I wouldn't trust the politicians, or the media, even if they told me night follows day, my conclusion is, and has been for a long time, to ignore what we're being told.

I feel desperately sorry for the people of Ukraine, nobody asked for what is going on, and I'm sure nobody wants it, but I will say Ukraine as a country, has done Europe proud holding up the murderer putin, but for sure he won't be getting any more of Europe anytime soon.

If ruSSia takes Ukraine it will inherit the largest most battled hardened army in Europe, plus all of Ukraine's arm manufacturers

If Russia takes Ukraine rhe notion that the Ukrainian army will acquiesce en masse is fanciful. There would be a huge resistance movement. Insurrection would be off the scale. Occupation would further deplete Russian resources. Don’t underestimate how much Ukrainians fucking hate Russia and the Russians.

I can’t recall exact figures but at the start of this someone ( Beau of the 5th ) did a video about the fact the war is the easy part.

Requires a vast occupying force and Occupied Ukraine’s insurgency would be massive compared to Iraq and most deaths in Iraq/afghanistan for the US.

A million strong army disbanding and forming hundreds of thousands of gourilla warfare cells.

With what exactly ?

Read my earlier post and then answer the "how", there is no way russia can do any more than lob missiles or drones at Ukraine (yes causing horrible damage), and take 10's of metres of land (then lose them again).

They are not going to open a front line against Norway, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania (their current borders), or Poland (though Balarus), they simply don't have the means to do so.
 
It's a very good point about the current threat to us from Putin.
I have asked the question before. "How" are they a current threat etc. I feel it is mainly propaganda.

I think the only possible threat is either nuclear (not very likely), or when and if peace with Ukraine happens.
Russia could start to rebuild their war machine and have another go at either Ukraine or Europe/UK. But how likely is this?

The truth is that Russia is already doomed. Their economy is decimated. Probably only held up by the current war. This could take decades to rebuild. Hopefully the support from agent 47 is dealt with soon.
They have lost a significant amount of working age young men. With any returning soldiers needing massive support to avoid social problems/mental health. Most will be adverse to any future action.

NATO isn't sitting around waiting for things to happen. Trump has probably (inadvertently) done us a favour. Waking us up with his defence GDP demands. Our reliance on the US is no longer a given. So we should see a more robust defence plan being instrumented.

I feel the only threat from Russia is the snidey shite he has been doing so far. Undersea cable/poisonings etc.
Russia is a busted flush. The sooner the dog at the top is removed, the better for the whole world. (same goes for the US)

Will be interesting to see what the mood in Russia will be when this war does end. They’ve gone all in to take Ukraine and it’s not happened and the toll on the male population in terms of deaths and injured is huge.

As far as Europe is concerned it’s moved countries collectively together and spending on military equipment has gone up. If Putin wanted to try it on with Europe the only card he can play is the nuclear one, which if he does he loses as well.
