4 | Tijjani Reijnders - 2025/26

I also said the same about Kalvin Phillips before we bought him. Sometimes I’m right, sometimes I am wrong. When Casper does something similar and turns into a top class goalkeeper or CB, feel free to come back on here and give it me with both barrels.
Honestly I struggle to see how reijnders lasts three seasons here. We are already looking to get another midfielder in January before anyone leaves and we will probably look to get another in the summer.

We let two players go in the summer, who were offering more. I say that as someone who broadly agreed with not giving KDB a new deal because of his fitness issues and with letting Gundo go, after what was a very average season by his previous standards. Both were more use, even last season than this fella and we paid £40m+ for the privilege.

If I was a betting man, I would have decent money on him being back in Milan on loan within 12 months.

He got to play with Haaland as the 10... But he is so much less effective than Foden and Cherki.

I would almost prefer a more dynamic player like Doku, Sav or Bobb than Reijnders.

Maybe it was by instruction but I thought he could have dropped more into midfield to help overload a bit more and be available.

If you get to play as the 10, you can't make 0 chances for the team.

He still gets time, but you can see Pep is trying him all over to get the best out of him, but he isn't helping Pep

I think it's fair to say he's been poor so far, but anyone completely writing him off already needs to get a grip. So many players in the Pep era have taken a year to adapt. Just look how far Nico G has come in 10 months

Funnily enough, I remember Reijnders doing one of those FIFA cards when he first joined, where players are asked to rate their own attributes. He gave himself a low rating for strength so it's not a surprise he's being pushed off the ball a lot in this new, more physical league

Given that it's taken players time throughout pep's tenure to adapt I'm not ready to write him off just yet. He is wearing thin though and I'd have much rather seen marmoush in for him today, but looks like that ship has sailed until at least Feb

For some reason I'm thinking of jorgino going to Chelsea as well. Serie a midfielder taking time to adapt to the league and once he did he was decent.

Fully agree mate, so many are too quick to write players off!

He picks up some great positions but there was a serious lack of quality today. First half didn't look arsed, better second half but still lucky to stay on as long as he did. Needs to buck up or he won't be here long.

I think you’ve gone a bit too far there. He wasn’t great and he looks a bit to weak on the ball sometimes, but he showed some nice touches and nearly scored.

But I do want to see more from him.
When trying to de out the 2-0 in the last 10 he had a head start to two balls in the corner. Decelerated because he saw the tackle coming. Got tackled both times anyway. Shitbag.

He also does nothing on the ball to justify doing less than nothing off the ball…

For every Nico there’s a Kalvin and Nico was nowhere near this level of bad. Plus, this idea that every player comes good for Pep after a year is simply not true.

We aren’t the dominant team we once were. We are no longer good enough to have the luxury of allowing players 1+ years to become half-decent. I’m not even asking for him to be a world-beater. I would settle for him just getting involved, helping his teammates out a little and not being a complete passenger every time he steps on to the field. Every new player gets some leeway but this fella is taking the fucking piss.

You'd have to think pep is beating him about with a phone book the way he's been playing but I'll trust the process, for now
