If you are referring to religious extremists, generally, then you are correct, and this is naturally true of all faiths.
We can probably all agree that religious extremists and political extremists pose the biggest threat to the safety and security of the species. It is why I feel so enraged by Trump, Netanyahu, Farage, and others, who will target any minority for the benefit of votes. My mum is Irish Catholic and my dad English Protestant. I watched my grandmother chase him from the house with a knife once in a heated argument about terrorist Vs freedom fighter. She hated the occupation of her homeland, he was a English 'patriot' believing it was necessary.
We shift though away from the point. This is a tragedy. I hope that anyone taking innocent lives faces harsh penalties regardless of faith. There is no place for violence - racial, political, religious, or secular, and it is time we frowned upon it, whomever it is committed by, and whomever it is directed towards.
