45 | Abdukodir Khusanov - 2025/26

I love his defending. But it’s still a risk if he can stay on the pitch for 90+ minutes. Yesterday’s challenge could easily be a red card. He was lucky there was no VAR. Thing is he didn’t need to do it. He’s faster anyways and this early in the game you need to trust the player can miss and the goalkeeper saves it.

But he will learn. He has to. Refs will target him I’m sure.
Listen to the comments of Mukasa after the game about Kush. He will get there.

Has some very useful attributes (most noticeably pace), but currently far too rash to command a regular starting place. Should have walked after that challenge last night and, entertaining though it may seem at the time, it’s not the first time he’s almost cost us dear by recklessly blundering through an opponent. A work in progress…..

Will become a great defender but gonna need alot of time to get there as he is so rash and will chalk up reds like no tomorrow. Fucking love him
Think he's already learnt so much this season, yes, there's still that "slight" over aggression but it's a fine line between training it out of him entirely and keeping him just the right side of the line.

He has the potential to be an absolute legend for us.

No surprise he was slightly off it to start with, although the "could have been a red" challenge was him covering for Ake's poor reading of the situation in my opinion.

Excellent second half but I'm not sure the trust is there yet and you can understand why. With the pace and physicality he has he doesn't need to play on the edge so much.

If he showed a little more composure I think Pep would happily rotate him with Dias on the right a bit more. Needs more game time to gain that trust and maybe over this period it comes at RB.
Que?

I see progress in his off the ball play last night, and he also ventured forward a couple of times too with the ball which is essential for any city defender to be comfortable at. If he can learn to cross a ball or give and go then he'd be potent on the right.

His decision making still needs work though. No need to even give the officials the question of a red, even if it is heading away from goal and borderline offside, as he has the strength and pace to deal with almost anyone on the counter.

A wonderful prospect. He is a very good defender already, but our defenders do more than that, and he is learning as he goes. He is one to watch for certain, and it was a good call to play him with Nathan Ake, who is a very level-headed presence.

Second half he was fantastic, covered our arse numerous times but there is no hiding the fact he should have been sent off, and that likely costs us the game. He's very lucky VAR wasn't in use.

Its not the first time he's made an extremely rash tackle like that and won't be the last. He won't ever be a top centre back until he learns to cut that out of his game. With pace like his, he doesnt even need to be doing it so it shouldnt be difficult to learn.

All footballers benefit from playing regularly, it's excusable to be a bit off every now and again, especially if its your first start in a while like his tonight but that excuse won't remain valid forever. Too players have to learn to perform at the highest level right away.
If there had been VAR then the Brentford player being offside would have stopped him being sent off.

Again the Brentford player controlled that ball more towards the corner flag than the goal, a yellow was the right call.
