Enzo Maresca "high among candidates" to replace Guardiola if he leaves next summer

City gaining momentum at the right time let’s throw a bomb under the wheels, hope Pep denies it later today and say he’s seeing his contract out.

Big Ange as a fall guy to take all the post Pep crisis hysteria and then the return of Vinny on a white horse with Zaba at his side.

Keep a eye on Farioli.

Currently reshaping positional football at Porto leading the league, worked under De Zerbi were he picked up a lot of his build-up ideas and has shown that he can adapt because he went into one of the worst Ajax squads of all time said "can't play the Ajax way with these players" and almost won the league against a very good Bosz PSV playing a bit more pragmatic and direct.
His current employer being in Portugal is probably straight into the mouth of Viana

I have always thought when the day comes that Viana is going to make a play for Amorim. He has been a lot shitter than expected at United, but I think they see themselves as a bit of a Clough/Peter Taylor double act in todays standard, and works well together. I am not a huge fan of the football he has tried to play in England, nor the one he played in Europe with Sporting. But I do like his tactical mindset in terms of creating overloads all over the pitch and on the flanks, while having enough players to attack the box centrally. It could be genius, it could be disaster pr amything in between but I am certain Viana will be talking to him. Would have been funny if he actually were good at United and we stole him, now it is way too risky for me.

I like Bosz in terms of his similiar Cruyffian outlook like Pep, and has shown he can dominate when his players are very good compared to the league. But way too heacy in his plan A to get a job like ours.

I like Iraola and wants to see him with better players. His football is great

Maresca is a bit meh at this point, not sure about him. But a competent coach.

Enrique and Kompany both feels like the right move but perhaps both are unattainable.

Maybe Alonso? And what if we actually made a move for Klopp?
Klopp to City has the same % as Pep going to Liverpool - 0

Farioli is an interesting case, you can see that he is improving every year, tho i have found a trend - he's squads suffer dramatic collapse at the end of season stage and he's stints are relatively short

i feel Bosz is tad bit old for a long term project

Iraola - he has 0 experience with better players and bigger clubs, 30 out of 38 games he will play vs low block

Us getting Maresca are quite small tbh, all depends how he will do with Chelsea

Enrique is older than Pep, i doubt he has big project in him

Kompany ? Maybe, as of now he is my main choice

Alonso i have a feeling he is Liverpool bound, they haven't sacked Slot just bcs Xabi is still with RM

Arteta also could be a shout, all depends if he wins a trophy with them

also Glasner would be an interesting appointment, but the same as Iraola

A lot of Vinny shouts, be interesting if the consensus were the same if this was during his Burnley prem season.

Point being if the club thinks someone fits the mould and has what it takes it doesn't matter where we pull them from. Bayern did exactly that with Vinny and our lads at the top haven't steered us wrong ever with managerial changes.
We'd all prefer an extension but if and when it happens be exciting to see where we go.
They did try and hire about 10 other guys before him, so wouldn't give Bayern too much credit. Kompany is doing a very good job though.

He will/should say this. There whole point of an extension til 2027 was to reduce number of questions like this.

I think he will go at the end of this season though, if we win the PL, CL, or maybe even just the FA Cup.

Well he hasn't made it up. So whoever has told him he obviously trusts, because hes put his reputation on the line to discuss one of the biggest managerial changes in world football being potentially several months away.

Yes he is the Messiah. We should all go along with whatever he says.

Prepare the Goodbye Pep banners!

He probably hasn't but whoever told him might have done with nefarious intent. As someone said even Pep probably doesn't know I don't believe anyone outside the club, apart from Pep's closest friends who wont say anything and for sure the very tight circle at City will not whimper a word, have any idea of what the club or Pep are doing

With respect to his reputation then he hasn't put it on the line, at all, he's a journalist and always has a back out that things change. In fact all he has said is that someone thinks Pep might go at the end of the season and Maresca is on the list but, he's not said about other candidates which is a little suspicious.

It all points to me that its Maresca or his agent

If it was anyone 'close' to Pep, he would have damn well cited 'sources close to Pep' for more of an apparent effect. Sources outside the club is even further from that.

And let's not forget, those sources close to Pep like Pol Ballus and Lu Martin have got it wrong plenty of times over the years when it comes to this.

Ornstein and others have been getting the Pep is Leaving story wrong for 5,6 years now, but sure let's jump to believe it this time, because he repoted the Haaland contract a few hours before it was officially announced!

Pep has completely rebuilt this team, and is playing a new version of his football. And it is going well, and everybody seems hungry.

He has stayed whenever he has been excepted to leave. Despite his friend Txiki leaving, despite legendary players leaving, despite his wife leaving, when he won it all in a year, when he won fuck all in a year, when we were charged and exoected to get kicked out of the CL, when we were cleared, when charged by the PL, etc etc.. And each time, he bloody well told us that, openly looked at the camera and said he was staying to see out his contractno matter what.

Yet, people would always rather believe some twitter third party claim of a guess by unnamed sources detached from the club, than what Pep himself says. That blows my mind.

99.9% do, this fella doesn't.

At the end of the day, he hasn't said anything thats concrete here about Pep going, so it's hardly ground breaking.

So why are you so desperate to believe it? Not only that, but to convince others they should believe it?

With what he has said how has put his reputation on the line? He has made literally zero concrete statements and left all available possibilities open, he has said the sum total of fuck all.

When Pep does go the City job will be the biggest job in football available. Basically the manager that comes in one would've been hand picked by the greatest manager ever in Pep , will be backed to the hilt by our board , will come into a stable environment with some of the best players in the world.

Into a winning club that has broke multiple records. The pressure is there but alot of managers will want that. I think City have a choice of anyone they can pick. I understand the Maresca interest he's at a circus right now and doing well, he's got a good relationship with our board, knows the core players well. Knows the club etc.

I'd love to see what Emery could do here, he's an elite manager, people bring up his PSG seasons but that club wasnt stable and he had to deal with multiple egos also his best player flirting with Madrid , even then he still won trophies. He won 6 trophies in two seasons. He's taken Villa from relegation candidates to a solid club challenging for a Europe spot under ffp regulations.

Give him a stable environment, with world class players and a bigger budget and I think he'd flourish here. He's tactically brilliant as well.

The idea that City will go knocking on Chelsea’s door and give compensation for Maresca’s seems wildly unrealistic to me….
