The Labour Government

I don't think it's about a long term regulation of social media (which is needed), rather it's giving teachers the knowledge and quasi-remit to identify the behaviour at source and then pass it to people more authoritative on the matter. It's a definite step in the right direction.

Yes sorry if I was unclear, this initiative is welcome and my broader point re SM etc was separate .

I hope the teachers are properly supported in this. Imo they already have too many hats to wear and too often without the necessary infrastructure. I'm hoping that one of the side effects of this initiative being publicised is that it encourages parents to engage more actively as ultimately they are responsible for ensuring their lads don't grow up with twisted views on women.

Whence this assumption that Erasmus+ will benefit only middle class students?
The research suggests so unfortunately.

“mobility policies seem to have the disadvantage of being taken up predominantly by students with an advantaged parental background, so that they could preserve social stratification in societies.”

I hope that the scheme is targeted to help counter that (as is also suggested by relevant research)

Labour very much remind me of City. Whatever they do they won’t get any recognition from the establishment led, rancid media and if Starmer cured world poverty and single handedly saved the world from destruction, they would still say ‘Yeah, but compared to Thatcher!’.
It’s like when the last Labour government wrote off the debt owed to the UK by third world countries .…… silence from the press

I wonder as to whether any postponed elections are in seats Labour are guaranteed to win by a comfortable majority.
Democracy delayed is democracy denied.

More fun for 2026, been told that train drivers are being balloted for industrial action.

7 of the 9 councils which requested a delay (East Sussex, Essex, Norfolk, Hampshire, Suffolk, Thurrock and Surrey) are run by the Conservatives.

Can't hold elections next year because councils complain they don't have the means to hold them.

All the more reason to HAVE the elections and remove the useless, wasteful spending twats. That is an unforgivable stance to have. What's next; "Hmm, sorry, General Election is cancelled, the nation is still losing money and it's best we stay in power to correct it"

Obviously didn’t read the comment above.

Do you know the context the reorganization of the councils

Even if they could hold them what’s the point when the council won’t exist soon seems like a waste of money which is ironic given your comment

No, because i was commenting from my own perspective.
I don't proof read the forum before posting my own opinions.

If the council has allowed itself to get into such a position due to misspending, it's further proof the members need removing, and we do this by a democratic election.

Or does democracy come down to simply to money in your eyes? We've held elections even in wartime; 'oopsies, we've no moneez' doesn't cut it, sunshine.

I always want to ask this. Why do you read this shit?

You must fully and completely understand that you are reading an extremely partisan site that is not giving you the full context on any story. Do you believe what they write as correct? Is it like reading Bluemoon as a City fan where you want to be validated on "your team"?

Why do people read these sorts of places for anything other than seeing what the crazies are saying?

Labour has a majority in 18 of the 63 councils that have been asked about a potential delay, with the Conservatives holding a majority in nine and the Liberal Democrats in seven.

Just read some comments and they’re absolutely fucking barking!

No wonder I stay way clear of these types of media, only there to influence people and get them frothing.

Nutjobs.
