10 | Rayan Cherki - 2025/26

I never doubted his talent whilst watching him play for Lyon in Ligue 1 on the TV, and when he tore United apart.

How the fuck PSG, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and the top PL clubs beside City, etc, could see it, is beyond me.

Even in the French national team he stood out.
He had an agreement with PSG, he had spoken with Luis Enrique, and sporting director Luis Campos was captivated. He had even told journalists that France had two geniuses, Mbappé and Cherki. But Cherki changed his mind when he received an offer from Dortmund; he preferred the German club.
To this day, the PSG management is furious with him for his about-face (in my opinion, he wanted to leave France because of the media inventing false rumors about him, trying to tarnish his image).

He's learning all the time about the intensity of the Premier League. There isn't another league in the world where 2nd can go to 17th and face that sort of scrutiny. After a slow start due to injury, his first half of the season has gone well. A good 2nd half and he could be picking up some well deserved medals.

In the league:

Haaland G/A every 67 minutes
Cherki G/A every 71 minutes

Guess the next best player in the PL in that regard is nowhere near those numbers. Maybe no other is under 100 minutes per G/A.

For example, B. Fernandes: 120 minutes per G/A...

Being up there with the highest-rated players this season, considering his minutes played, is actually mental.
I'd go as far as to say that if it weren’t for that injury and being out for two months, Cherki would’ve been City’s player of the season, hands down.
On top of that, being the new lad, he hasn't got that 'free role' luxury like Foden does. He’s stuck out on the right and doesn't get enough space to drift centrally(bar few moments). I’ve got a feeling if he played as an 8, his assist numbers would be through the roof, but we’ll probably have to wait for Rodri to be back to see that.

He’s a proper number 10. He brings that spark and constant creativity we’ve been craving (unlike some other number 10s we've had in recent seasons).
The way he’s started actually reminds me so much of KDB back in 2015 when he first joined

I've no doubts Wirtz is a class player and will do great for Liverpool. Liverpool fans just seem to be really sore about Cherki for some reason instead of just enjoying their own lad coming into form and showing why they spent all that dough on him. Odd behaviour. But that's them in a nutshell isn't it.
Witz only issue is he chose poorly, if he had come to us or the red scouse still had klopp he would be thriving now and now havingnhis talents wasted by a clueless coach who got lucky last year that every other challenger was wank.

Top class player working umder a 2nd tier manager.

Cherki though is a cut above

Is Witz a top class player though?

I have no doubt that he will have decent/good numbers in the future. But I doubt he's capable of having legendary feats. In terms of raw talent, Cherki appears well above him. Admittedly, re: off the ball work, Witz offers more..

seen a rag moaning that they shouldve signed him as they saw him first lol
we must have gem on our hands and once fully fit he's what he wants to be
Hear them say the same about Haaland, Silva and Kun.
They got the sister in law shagger though.

Cherki wasn’t ruthless enough in the first half and was careless with possession.

Then he sorted himself out second half and was more ruthless with what he did and won the game for us.
