Marc Guehi | Leading target for City (p28)

Pep starts Dias over Stones and Khusanov for a reason.

Don't be another internet rando who thinks he knows better than Pep.
In fairness, Pep like anyone else could have a blind spot.

That said, i agree Dias wouldn't be easy to overtake.

Yes, he could. But not for too long. If something doesn't work, he is likely to see the problem.

Our record with Dias this calendar year has been outstanding (but some have failed to notice it).

Seems to be a thing with some of our wannabe hipster posters to call out Dias as being shit. He's not of course, been a brilliant signing but it's easier to let them crack on with their shite.

Absolutely mental isn't it. Wild that some supporters don't think he's one of the two that start. Wilder still that people think a raw (albeit woth a lot of potential) Khusanov is better than him.

I don’t think he’s better than our current defenders and it’s clear he wants first team football, so I don’t think we’d be his first choice

Dias is clearly fantastic. And his form has ticked back up this season. The only thing he lacks is pace..Everything else he has in spades. Toughness, aggression, leadership, exemplary, consistency, confidence etc.

There aren't too many good qualities that he lacks. So itd be hard for any CB to shift him from the starting spot.

I personally think Khusa is a more talented defender, and can become better long-term fit, but he is still limited in a multitude of areas that Dias isn't. And he needs to develop.

That said, i still think he should be getting far more game time thsn.he has so far. Im not sure Guehi would walk onto this team's first 11 anytime soon

13 games so far - 7 in the league - is a significant number of appearances and we're not even half way into the season yet.
Don't be churlish, esp at Xmas ;-)

There's nothing churlish about it :) But for injuries, I think Stones could have been considered the best defender in the world.

Doesn't change that those 90% stats, and the 57% last season are based on PL appearances of less than five x 90 minutes this season, and just over six x 90 minutes last season. Neither is a realistic assessment of how good he actually is - which over a season would be somewhere between the two.
