Antoine Semenyo | Prefers to join City - Ornstein (p73)

Ah do me a favor BBS...:)

As an expat Paddy in the colonies, while I have taken on some Americanisms in my over 30 years here, one thing I will never do is spell words like honour, colour or favour without the 'u'. Even when spellcheck tells me otherwise...

TBF “or” is the correct old English latin origin spelling. “our” was introduced when our ruling classes spoke French and to help the transition between French and old English. Something like that anyway.

So you think he’d join us on a two year contract?

I don't think he'd join us at all unfortunately. He changed and won the game for Villa at Chelsea when he came on. We need a decent experienced back up for Haaland and he fits the bill. With Villa riding high he probably won't leave. Hes not first choice for Villa now so he may as well be back up here as there.

While we are in discussions with Bournemouth about Semenyo, I wonder if we will talk about Alex Scott he looks a very good talent.

Can't wait to get this over the line. Will be a great addition.

Don't see how adding Semenyo makes any difference with what City plan on doing at the midfield or CB position in January, for those stating their concern.

The midfield names being discussed (Anderson/Wharton) are looking like summer targets for any club interested. That makes the whole going for a midfielder argument a bit of a moot point. I’d be shocked and ecstatic to be proven wrong, but based on what’s out there, those are the only two midfield options that seem to be mentioned. Given that, I’d much rather take the risk of a Ballon d’Or winner gradually playing himself back into form than overpaying for a Plan C midfielder in January.

At CB, I think we’re fine for now. That said, I highly doubt a fee in the £35m range (assuming that’s still around Palace’s asking price) for Guehi would be difficult for City to sort out.

- Makes squad stronger
- Good market price for a Premier League proven winger
- Versatile player
- Looking at potentially 30-36 possible games between 145 days
- Doku/Foden/Cherki are all suspect to missing time
- Pisses off all the other clubs

No brainer.

Could be wishful thinking but I reckon Semenyo will bring out Savinho's strengths more.

One thing Savinho does very well is getting past his man to the byline, setting up an opportunity to cross. Usually it's only Haaland to aim at - so having a goalscoring winger arriving at the back post should, in theory, present more big chances.

A bit like how Sane / Sterling operated. Raz used to get so many tap ins.
