Exeter City (H) | FA Cup | Post Match Thread

Watched v brief highlights on iplayer, professional paddy connor mcnamara didn't see fit to mention the first scorer with a debut City goal, didn't show the pen, and had as much enthusiasm for our goals as any of us listening to the usual numskulls on our games. I loved Rico's double, great moment with Captain's armband too.

On the app Steve Howey and Ali Mann willing double figures, great. Didn't know Howey is a Wearsider and the only 2 clubs he listens out for were City and Sunderland. Interesting for the barcodes???

All this and a Rodri Thunderbastard(TM) !
Howey's brother Lee played for Sunderland.

That’s the way to do it. Put the big boys on to start game and wrap it up by HT and then bring some kids on.

The kids done good too. McAidoo was a good watch.

Semenyo slotted in seamlessly.

10 goals against any Football League side is a major achievement and it’s yet another record for Pep.
And to think some want rid.

Strange what goes through your mind during games, but when McAidoo scored it was brilliant to see him go over to his family seems a humble kid,but my mind swung to them rag twats and them 3 twats sitting on the advertisement boards when one of the pricks scored the difference is staggering, celebrating with family the others look at me look at me ..

Great debuts for Semenyo, and the kids.

Mcaido....17 years old, massive potential.

Thought it was a bit cringe singing we want 10, however I'm old skool as to speak.

Im sure I passed Ben Mee around the stadium too.

Exeter fans were decent.

My Dad passed last June. I sent a Whatsapp to my closest friend, who isn't even a football fan at at all, about this game today. The first time I've ever spoken to her about football probably. Seems silly to say it but this result really got to me today to tell you the truth!

God bless your late dad. Lovely post, this is what City is about for me. ,! Thanks for sharing blue .

If you were told this morning that Haaland was playing today, and that City would score 10, I wonder what odds you'd have got on him not scoring once?

And yes; I know he only played half the game!

I could kick myself - I was going to take our son but he wasn't too fussed so I didn't get tickets. The prices were very reasonable I thought and I'm glad the crowd had something to enjoy! I had a feeling we'd put out a weaker side and we would maybe win 2-1 or something...!

I've seen the goals and I felt a bit sorry for Exeter as there were some belters in there from Rodri, O'Reilly and Reijnders. The OGs were unlucky but it looked like at the end they'd given up - apart from that belter they scored!

I'll be honest though, in recent weeks our players have looked absolutely fucked. Why did we start with Cherki, Haaland, Reijnders? I'm not sure we needed these players v Exeter and would've benefitted them - and the ones taking their place. A very minor gripe and I should be grateful we've got something decent to watch on MOTD! :)

COME ON CITY!!

I was really impressed with the intensity of the players in the 2nd half. We seemed to improve when we took Haaland and Rodri off. The academy boys really made the most of their opportunity. I really liked McAidoo.

In previous years, City have sold our best academy players and they are now playing for other clubs. Now we are linked with defenders and players in the transfer market but do they have a higher potential than our own youth team players?

Pep said in his pre-match press conference that his one regret at City was in not giving the Academy players more of a chance. There is time to put that right. I understand that there is a big difference between Exeter and the Premier League but all the boys who played today did the club proud. McAidoo in particular should get more first team games this season, even if it's from the bench. There's the FA Cup and the Champions League. Let's use these players when we can.

We should also consider that O'Reilly and Rico can play in midfield. They are not just full backs.

It was a special day. Let's hope for another home draw and a repeat. What I loved was that this performance was driven by the young players. I wonder what other players are in the Academy.

Credit to Pep for getting the balance right between experience and youth. I wonder what the average age of the team we finished with was. It could be the youngest ever.

It was probably the first time that I can remember in a long time that most people stayed until the end. It was so much fun. There were lots of really young fans too.

What I found strange was Pep bringing on Silva(and Doku to a lesser degree) when we were 6-0 in front. Should they both of been rested, what with all these games coming up? Or did Pep still think the game was in the balance:) it just felt unnecessary in my most humble of opinions.
