That 'no value in the market' quote was because the Glazers kept a lid on salaries. Back in 2010 I had a brilliant insight into this from the then Chelsea CEO who told me that united's top whack back then was £90k a week, when Chelsea's was £160k and we were offering £180k. That was at the time of Rooney's alleged transfer request and Chelsea tried to buy him.

It turned out this wasn't a genuine request but a trick to force the Glazers to agree to up the salary levels. They originally refused caved in once Chelsea had put a contract on the table and Rooney got his £180k a week (as did all those with a 'Highest paid player' clause and there were 5 or 6 of those at the time).

Funnily enough you never heard 'no value in the market' after that.
Very interesting.

It will be fun watching United defending against our likely front three of Semenyo, Haaland, and Cherki backed by a midfield of Bernie, Rodri, and Foden. A bit like watching a horror movie for their fans. The reality is that they have managed a few lucky results against us in the last ten years but we have pretty much outplayed them every time we have met.
They do manage a few lucky results and that's always at the back of my mind whenever we play them.

So Ruben Interim sacked. Now United talking to 2nd in the championship manager Carrick to be interim manager of a struggling United. Carrick must have rocks in his head to give up a battle for the championship title for a team that will probably be fighting to avoid a bottom 6 finish.

I think Carrick will turn them down.
He is no longer with Middlesboro

Also, good lord. They’re absolutely clueless aren’t they?
"Whether Michael goes in or if that's Fletch [Darren Fletcher] or John O'Shea or myself, it needs people who know the football club," added Rooney, who has recently been on holiday with Carrick and his family in Barbados.

God you will see the media go on and on about alonso going to the scum end of the season
It's the new thing isn't it. Do you think they have a big meeting at the start of each season to decide what message to push. That Arsenal wanker McKeown on Talkshite was saying it.

Apparently the Rag DNA they're on about is all out attacking football.

Fuck off.

LOL. It definitely would be a no-brainer if Rooney joined them.

They've got to be in for Alonso. Surely to fuck there'll be a delegation in black River Island parkas outside his gaff as we speak.

For years since the late 80’s the mere thought of playing the rags would fill me with dread. The Derby dates were known off by heart and I was often silently praying not to get gubbed and embarrassed. That’s why those rare wins in those years when they were winning everything were bloody brilliant, and kept me awake with giddiness for days afterwards.
Now though? Jeezis, I want to bury and humiliate them when we play but I don’t get myself worked up as much as I did even though I detest them no more or no less than I did.
Derby day is only enjoyable if you win. Too much tension until then.
