United (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

I think any blue with a brain knew that the Derby falling after a League Cup semi-final was going to be difficult. And then we go into the game with a defensive injury crisis that worsened on the day of the game.

This is not excuses it's real. See Arsenal at Forest. They played Chelsea on Wednesday and were similarly rubbish at the City Ground.

Yeah the word of the day is “Context” what some fans and none fans acting like Man City fans on here don’t get!

Feels like there’s loads of reasons behind today. First regardless of what we think it was a much bigger game for them. They were fired up and at full strength.
Second our back four, struggle as it did against Newcastle at times, with Nunes out it was 3 young players and a creaking Ake. Ake struggled all game and he was the senior pro. Guehi will arrive a day or two too late.
Rodri was so isolated. We won the league in 23/24 with Rodri and Kovacic together in the run in. With Bernardo there instead we are hopelessly lacking in physicality. Hopefully we’ll see himself and Nico together because the league has got a lot more physical and we don’t have the players to win duels in midfield.
I genuinely wonder was Doku injured in the challenge with Dalot as he was awful after it.
Foden and Haaland need to rest, Haaland was outmuscled by the Argie dwarf and Foden was anonymous.
For me the jury is still out on our recent recruitment bar Donnarumma. Lots of promising signs but nowhere near enough consistency.

Move on. This game will be forgotten in a few weeks.
Well I've moved on from it already ... I've taken stock of the situation and Arsenal's draw tonight, and for me the chase starts with the Wolves fixture to overhaul Arsenals seven point lead.

Sixteen league games left, so on we go ..... but first to Bodo !

They've won the Machester Cup this time, but only have top 4 to play. I'd prefer to be in our shoes right now. The only positive from today is that Man United may give it a go when they go to the new Highbury next week.

I don't want any favours from the scum

United have played their game of the season, now let's see them in the next games ? It will be back to the green and gold and Zabra pants protest next week

The United performance today was very predictable - from the fast aggressive start to the 4-2-4 formation when attacking, with Fernandes in a free and mostly advanced role off the main striker, Mbueno.

The City defending in the 2nd half especially was equally predictable as they were over-run on breakaways time and again.

It was the worst derby performance for many a year, but I'm sure the rags will say it was their best for many a year as well. What irritated me the most was the lack of a simple change - such as switching our wingers over for a spell, or going long to Haaland at some stage - I barely remember this happening at all.

I don't know who on our team was feeling ill but I know all us fans were by the end of such a shite second half. Arsenal have left the door ajar once more tonight, and the mighty rags have to go there and do it all again next week. Imagine: they beat Arsenal - hopefully Guehi can inspire us to beat the mighty Wolves!

We live in hope

I think we need a few more coaches who actually focus on dealing with our increasing weaknesses and bring some cohesion, courage, speed skill, accuracy, determination ,sense of urgency, confidence amongst others. Throw in a proper Sergeant major and a few army training courses to separate men from the boys.

That should sort it.
I would seriously look at our medical/conditioning team. Just seems odd that we get so many injuries 2 seasons in a row

They are minnows and it showed today. How times have changed. Arse should beat them easy

I suppose most has already been said but my real worry is how we do going forward. All these games and trying to play all these players who are not used to it, it can only get worse.

Exactly teams playing once aweek can raise their game against a team playing twice a week. Thats why winning the league is the toughest competition to win. Thats why Leicester had a clear run.

Look, the standard across the entire league this year has dropped off a cliff compared to the last 10 years.

Liverpool - They won the league in August. 4th.

Arsenal - They won the league last month. If they were that good the league would be out of site by now.

Everyone is pretty shite, including us. I didnt think we were anywhere near winning the league this season.

Not letting this spoil my weekend...

I can only assume today’s performance was due to the efforts from the Newcastle game. We are playing a team who play once a week with a new manager and bragging rights of Manchester at stake. Our players were completely knackered and intimidated by the atmosphere. Pep was trying to give a few players of rest, but the lack of quality from the fringe players at this level showed and played into United’s hands.
