The Squad planning thread

It’s natural for us to want more and more signings after the derby result but that doesn’t have a great record of success. It’s better to work with the squad we have as there are already lots of newbies to get used to city.

For me, we only need to replace Kovacic and Bernardo as we know they are probably going and we don’t have replacements within the squad (injuries will get better over time) A replacement(s) could be one or two players in with Anderson probably the most likely.

I also believe that with a fully functioning fit team our Academy should be used more.

No need to panic yet. We are in four tournaments whereas the team that just wiped the floor with us are out of everything.
 
I’m trying not to compare, but when you look at a lot of our recent signings - last 3/4 years. I do think there has been a drop in quality. I don’t think a lot of these players would get near our treble side

We signed players with potential previously, but I’m not seeing the same quality

I think its down to transfer fees now mate and FFP/PSR ? a £20m player is now going for £40-50m so imagine what a £70m players asking fee would be? £100-125m which then stops us doing it due to the rules.
 
Trying to work out where Reis will fit into the picture. He wasn't cheap and can't see him as a player we'll just sell on. Even if Stones and Ake are moved on, we'll be well stocked with central defenders

I’m not being pessimistic, how likely is it that a player that was bought and went straight on loan makes it here? Perrone was loaned and sold, Angelino the same. It’s not even like he worked with Pep, he didn’t even get announced officially like our other loanees. We found out he was a City player through journalists and Lens twitter.
 
My Brothers a leicester fan said that we've been looking at Fatawu with Dippers looking at him as well anyone know anything about him? My brother said he's a quality winger but he's biased as a Leicester fan.

I read that City are interested in Monga from Leicester

I don’t think anyone has been good for Nice this season; only bottom club Metz have conceded more goals. If he genuinely had a choice between Lyon and Nice, then he certainly chose unwisely. There is a defender in him, though, but he’s young and needs work.

When i have watched Bah this season, one thing is obvious, he is their best defender, even when he gets butchered by the media, Bah can get into half the first teams in the PL.
 
So 2 in 2 to go this Jan. Dadason next, fee, wages and squad place irrelevant, need was shown when we took Haaland off, as it is shown every time he comes off or is marked out of a game, Haaland is a striker we have no other striker, a lot of midgets that can play there, just not as good as Silva can play LB. after that Solet on loan with a view to buy, we do not do loans, so lets look at how they work, utd loaned Falco for £20 million and he was shite, oh how we laughed and mocked them, for spending so much money, on a player that said he never wanted to play in the PL, but they saved £40 million that they would have paid. Take Solet on loan, he fills a gap that we have now, and if he makes it we buy, is he available, very likely as all of Italy wants to sell.

I can't see us signing another CB. We've already got Dias, Gvardiol, Geuhi, Khusanov and Alleyne. Add to that we'll have Reis and Bah coming back in the summer. We're a bit short at the minute with injuries but Dias is back in a couple of weeks and Guehi, Khusanov and Alleyne should be enough to see us through the three fixtures till he's back

The most urgent area for me is CM. We look so open through there at times. Bernardo is doing the running of two men and looks knackered, plus he's off in the summer. Rodri is still trying to get match sharpness back and Nico can't come back soon enough. Talk of O'Reilly going in there which is great in the cups but wouldn't want him to be in there full time.

I agree, I wouldn’t be fussed if we only saw Anderson come in during the summer window. With that in mind I’d love to see pep start with Kush at Rightback, Dias and Guehi in the middle and Josko left, Rodders holding behind a front 5 of Doku, Foden, Cherki, Samenyo and big Earl
