Welcome Marc Guehi!

Logically thinking for next season, if everbody is fit, there's no way we don't end up in a back 3 of some kind in possession more often.

Gvardiol, Dias and Guehi are instant starters. I suspect we play with 1 other fullback being very attacking (RAN, Nunes and sometimes Nico O).

Khusanov will be the primary backup, then Alleyne and Reis can slowly be integrated more.

Perfect profile for us and a perfect opportunity for both parties at the right time.
He is what Branthwaite threatened to be
Jealous Red Cartel fans moaning about wages as if they were in the negotiations ! In reality were paying him the contract he would have got from any of them in the Summer plus 20m for a class HOMEGROW defender.
Brilliant business.

3 CB starting when everyone is fit would be brilliant.

It’s like stones/akanji/ake/dias all over again. We need proper defenders to play the high line aggressively. Gvardiol stepping into midfield when in possession or Guehi.

I’m liking this idea. I would love to have 2 holding players in the middle aswell. Breakaways would slow and we could camp out again but this time attacking with semenyo/Doku and with Phil or cherki.

Pep going back to a successful set up is music to my ears. Need them to stay fit tho.

I think back to basics with a solid back 3 and 2 in front is a good idea, we won the treble on this and Centurions used it often.

I put a squad in the "squad planning" thread for next season that shows the squad in a 4231 into a 325 that I think works.

Sky can't fucking help themselves....

"The whole deal is worth £120M when you take in the transfer fee, wages, agent fees and signing on fee."

Do they do this to any other club?
Mate,

If you read the article on ESPN. There is a pictograph/bar-chart at the end of the article that has Peps spending at City by year since he joined the club.

They did this when Semenyo signed as well. Not net spend by the way.

So it looks like Pep has spent over 1.6 billion (euros if I recall, but they also like to state those numbers in dollars from time to time).

YCMIU, as I've not seen it done to other teams at all.

The American broadcaster NBC's pundits robbie Earle and robbie mustoe have some sort of podcast. Mustoe mentioned that he researched our netspend over the past five years, and we are the lowest of the traditional top six, but to anyone reading the ESPN articles, they would struggle to believe the truth. They probably all think the 10 odd million loss we just reported is rubbish and more likely closer to the GDP of a small nation.

No idea how good Guehi is, or whether he will suit the way we play - I have simply not watched enough of him and I doubt many of us have. Based on what some Palace fans have said, and they watch him every week, we have a great player and a stone, cold bargain.

I wish him every success and hope that he has a wonderful career earning plenty of trophies.

ESPN…Liverpool, Chelsea & 2 United fan presenters, with Nedum occasionally phoning it in from remote location. Any questions?!

Two Robbies podcast runs the gamut as far as teams and topics, and they try to be fair, even though City rarely get a good shout. Glad to hear them spitting some facts!

City gambled on no injuries to the CB`s in the summer, it was a gamble that failed, so we have bought a player that is comfortable on the ball, he is not as good as the Ake that we bought, but that is not the Ake we have, i believe Max will surpass him, but that is not now, we have a need and he fill most of it. Lets hope we do not fail the signing like we failed the Phillips signing, £20 million is fantastic but we must reduce the wage through the signing on fee, £50 million in signing on fee and transfer fee would still be a bargain, a take the pain now, that gives the player something to achieve.
£50m signing on fee??!!

Seeing a lot of Palace fans saying that we will be laughing at the 300k wages because he’s that good. Some saying this is City’s Van Dijk moment.

That’s very encouraging.
