Bodo/Glimt (A) | CL | Post Match Thread

Only 3 players in our squad who has a set position Haaland Dias Donno the rest play where ever pep plays them! I’d love a team of players who play in there positions! Foden since he came in the side pep has played him left wing right wing striker the 10 role now he is playing a deeper role! Look at Saka played one position all his career right wing! No wonder Foden is going these spells!

I want Mancini back or someone who can start the journey again, we don’t sign top players anymore
I’m not sure about can’t sign top players anymore
But we need someone to understand and play to their strengths not keep believing they can be coached into another player
Be a travesty to fuck Pep off but surely we need to start a management transition personally I think any experienced European manager would get a tune out of this squad particularly one who starts by focusing on defence and stabilising a back four and holding central midfield and isn’t hell bent on possession stats whereby the players play in fear or flight mode

Whilst we all like to romanticise about various managers and how they are either brilliant or terrible or even somewhere in between.

I can’t help but think you are only as good as your players. The system worked because city had Kyle Walker who would at times single handily stop counter attacks with his pace. City had Rodri the best in the world in his position. City had kdb, foden, Bernardo, gundogan, mahrez. All genuine world class players.

What they have now is players well below that level.

Im genuinely questioning how important a manager actually is? Of course they can raise performances etc but my point is are you only ever as good as your players? Did city dominate becasue they had the best squad? And more important. I’m not sure any other manager would get a batter tune out of these players

We won the league with Fabian Delph at left back and won the league without a striker. This is Pep.

Out of words! so disappointed, can't even bother to get upset, don't think my heart can take it. It feels
Like I been ass fucked by a wire brush since Saturday. Can someone tell me why we never play the ball forward? Our attacking players runback meet the ball plays direct back again and so on. Oh god I miss KDB

Rodri obviously had enough and got himself sent off.

Bodo are on their mid winter break and haven't played for 6 weeks.

I really think Pep is done, I've always stuck up for him, yes we're playing a very young, very inexperienced and very high defence as tonight was a carbon copy of playing the red mardarses but the team look dead and absolutely clueless.

And don't get me started on Ian Ormondroyd up front, we start with 10 men every match lately.

Simply ain't good enough.
Well he is done isn't he? this is his last season with us

again, to be replaced by who?

Have people learnt nothing from our rag neigbours over the last 12 years or so...

this aint Pep...

The players arent good enough

No coach makes Rico Lewis and Reijnders into better players.....and there are others on that list as well

I agree somewhat but players don't play a highline when down to ten men. Or with the injuries we have and inexperience in the back four you don't play such a high line and insist on doing it. Those players tonight didn't have clue what the tactics were or what Pep wanted them to do.

It also genuinely felt like that was the players downing their tools.

We have to talk about how we were playing until recently, Erl was on top form , Foden and Cherki clicked , we looked better playing counter attacking , now we've reverted back to poor possession side to side tactics , fuck knows why

Haalaad was a joke tonight.

He was but where was his service, why such a high line where he’s so compact there is no space he’s got 5 men on him so instead of us having midfielders spare which we should have all we do is pass side to side no service what so ever!

The reality is that back 4 isn’t CL standard.

Alleyne and Khusanov are good prospects (Khusanov much the better prospect imo) but nothing more and both wildly inexperienced. Ait Nouri isn’t a right back, thinks he’s playing 5 a side and doesn’t know what a recovery run is.

Given that, there needs to be some serious protection in front of them. Shielding them and stopping counters. A midfield of a past it Rodri, and 2 players who wouldn’t know a tackle or a recovery run if it bit them on the arse in Lewis and Reijnders, is simply not going to go provide that protection. This left the back 4 completely overwhelmed and with their inexperience, they made individual and collective mistakes. You cannot make those mistakes at this level. But I can’t blame them as they were pretty much “left to it” by that lack of protection.

It was a suicidal line up and formation. That’s Pep’s fault.

Additionally, an unacceptable lack of authority, desire, work rate and doing of the basics all across the pitch, which was particularly bad from Haaland, Foden and Lewis. That’s the player’s fault.

For me, had we had a back 4 of Nunes, Dias, Guehi, Gvardiol we’d have had no problems against what is a low level CL side and would have controlled their attacks easily.

We need to get Guehi in the team immediately and get Nunes back in at full back as our priorities for Wolves.

Yep said it before All on Pep this!

Fast transition football is kryptonite to us at the moment because we are simply not athletic enough to cope with it and we lose the ball too often.
Lots of work to do yet.
we just need fullbacks who will defend and stay defensive....

we need drive and legs along side rodri in midfield.....and we dont have that solution in the squad.....

Reijnders can go back to Italy now for all I care and take Rico Lewis with him - both are not anywhere near the level for one reason or another.
