I’m not sure about can’t sign top players anymoreI want Mancini back or someone who can start the journey again, we don’t sign top players anymore
Whilst we all like to romanticise about various managers and how they are either brilliant or terrible or even somewhere in between.
I can’t help but think you are only as good as your players. The system worked because city had Kyle Walker who would at times single handily stop counter attacks with his pace. City had Rodri the best in the world in his position. City had kdb, foden, Bernardo, gundogan, mahrez. All genuine world class players.
What they have now is players well below that level.
Im genuinely questioning how important a manager actually is? Of course they can raise performances etc but my point is are you only ever as good as your players? Did city dominate becasue they had the best squad? And more important. I’m not sure any other manager would get a batter tune out of these players
Well he is done isn't he? this is his last season with usRodri obviously had enough and got himself sent off.
Bodo are on their mid winter break and haven't played for 6 weeks.
I really think Pep is done, I've always stuck up for him, yes we're playing a very young, very inexperienced and very high defence as tonight was a carbon copy of playing the red mardarses but the team look dead and absolutely clueless.
And don't get me started on Ian Ormondroyd up front, we start with 10 men every match lately.
Simply ain't good enough.
By the metric of how far our standards have fallen.By what metric?
again, to be replaced by who?
Have people learnt nothing from our rag neigbours over the last 12 years or so...
this aint Pep...
The players arent good enough
No coach makes Rico Lewis and Reijnders into better players.....and there are others on that list as well
lolI want Mancini back or someone who can start the journey again, we don’t sign top players anymore
Haalaad was a joke tonight.
You ain't wrong there, unfortunately....but what? There's something very wrong with the club at the minute.
The reality is that back 4 isn’t CL standard.
Alleyne and Khusanov are good prospects (Khusanov much the better prospect imo) but nothing more and both wildly inexperienced. Ait Nouri isn’t a right back, thinks he’s playing 5 a side and doesn’t know what a recovery run is.
Given that, there needs to be some serious protection in front of them. Shielding them and stopping counters. A midfield of a past it Rodri, and 2 players who wouldn’t know a tackle or a recovery run if it bit them on the arse in Lewis and Reijnders, is simply not going to go provide that protection. This left the back 4 completely overwhelmed and with their inexperience, they made individual and collective mistakes. You cannot make those mistakes at this level. But I can’t blame them as they were pretty much “left to it” by that lack of protection.
It was a suicidal line up and formation. That’s Pep’s fault.
Additionally, an unacceptable lack of authority, desire, work rate and doing of the basics all across the pitch, which was particularly bad from Haaland, Foden and Lewis. That’s the player’s fault.
For me, had we had a back 4 of Nunes, Dias, Guehi, Gvardiol we’d have had no problems against what is a low level CL side and would have controlled their attacks easily.
We need to get Guehi in the team immediately and get Nunes back in at full back as our priorities for Wolves.
I've stubbornly stuck up for him, but not for much more. Not on his own though.Lewis needs taking out of the club
yes i think hes run his course, no doubt ill get pelters but something is definately wrong with the club right nowDoes anyone genuinely want pep out? I don’t.. however I’m asking to see what people thoughts are..
we just need fullbacks who will defend and stay defensive....Fast transition football is kryptonite to us at the moment because we are simply not athletic enough to cope with it and we lose the ball too often.
Lots of work to do yet.
