Bodo/Glimt (A) | CL | Post Match Thread

Big pile of steaming shite.Foden has completely lost it,won’t run won’t press, won’t. Tackle.Ditto Haarland,Pep it’s down to you.
How is it down to Pep? What do you want Pep to do...run on the field and smack them in the mouth for not putting enough effort in?...i actually think some on here would agree with that.

Absolutely, not a happy clapper but Pep had to rely on players available.Bodo made their advantages of the familiarities,ie pitch and climate to their full extent.Young Max misread two situations on the artificial pitch which lead to two goals although what Donny was doing for the first god knows!
Hopefully Guehi and Semenyo settle on Saturday and Nico G is back.
They scored 2 worldies but looked very comfortable on their own pitch as well. They deserved it though so not suggesting City were close to them.

Painful to read some of the comments on guardiola, but a lot of it is fair.

That said, no manager, can out train, or out coach an appalling recruitment policy spanning 3 years.

It’s laughable listening to people arguing about the merits of who starts where, when it comes to sav, doku, cherki, Khus, Tij, Marmoush, Bobb, Nunes, Orielly, NIco G, RAN,. None of these lads are good enough to propel us back to where we want to be., it doesn’t make them terrible players, they just simply aren’t at the required levels to win the prem and CL.

As for the lads that have proven it in the past

Rodri - gets a pass due to 18 months out, but can he get back to where he was?

Earl & Phil, no excuses for how bad they have been, but I can’t imagine how demotivating it must be too see such a drop off in quality in such a short space of time.

It’s all about the league cup, it’s our only realistic chance of silverware and if he is to leave it would be fitting to see Pep go with one last trophy.
Oh do fuk off

You didn't say real change or the rest, you just said he should start by looking in yhe mirror - he is starting that by taking full responsibility. As well he should start with that, because he’s been shite and he's the highest paid player, with the longest contract. Admit fault, take responsibility, show it on the pitch
So he is just now doing that, after his poor 2024-5 season? Well, hallelujah!

Agree totally. Not sure about the divorce bit but Peps loyalty to his players has really blown up in his face
He doesn't seem to me to have the drive to constantly push the players towards further personal improvement. Then again, with the injuries and lack of available choices for selection on match days, maybe it's down to the long-term wear on many of our players. He may feel that they lack some of the physical endurance to strive harder so rest and recovery must take precedence. I would note that he just bemoaned his inability to get his squad sufficient training time.

These losses for me are a result of the team being decimated with injuries, at the same time as us being in four competitions, some of our leading players sre absolutely knackered.
You can see it.
The United game came at a bad time after a very difficult trip to Newcastle in the league cup, where as the United players had just been on a Big break so they were fresh.... I think being in four competitions is taking its toll and we are losing games we would normally win.
Players are not able to recover between games it's getting ridiculous.
I'm not blaming anybody, least of all Pep.
Absolutely. Echoes what I was saying at the weekend. Bodo isn't an easy place to get to either so the travelling doesn't help. Not trying to polish a turd but somebody told me I was an idiot when I suggested that this was a potential banana skin.

What I don't understand is why the doom-mongers on here are expecting the same results and performances that we would get from our first choice XI. If that was ever going to happen we wouldn't need to buy those players in the first place. It's not rocket science to figure that out. You have to accept it for what it is

Ait-Nouri didn't really work out on the right but you don't know until you try and we're short on options anyway. In some ways this was a free hit, a chance to try things out because we all know we're not strong enough to win the CL this year.

Definitely glad we pulled the trigger and signed Guehi. Not saying we'd have gotten more than a draw but Max definitely showed he needs a little more learning and training to be first choice.

I'm afraid that that is RAN for you. Positionally he isn't good.

Can't you see that without wingers, Pep was using his full backs to get width. It didn't work but you should understand the objective.

The problem was the players attitude and the absences. We had an unbalanced team but what do you expect with 10 absences?
I don't think it's about attitude, it's a system that needs time to get used to but which has brought us great success. People can't (but do) expect these young players to come in and get the same results as the first choice XI normally would.

Agreed, but it was a case of needs must to recall him, if he was ready he wouldn't have gone out on loan in the first place but he clearly isn't and the lack of cover is no doubt why we signed Guehi.

I thought Max was desperately unlucky for the second goal, he got a lot of stick for it but when the ball came over the top it took a wicked bounce back in the opposite direction, no doubt that's down to the pitch but was why he wasn't able to control it. I don't call that a mistake and you have to ask where everybody else was, their no. 9 had nobody anywhere near him.

Yeah you cant expect to compete with a world class Norwegian team not many have heard of with virgin Premier league players like

Donna Nouri Lewis rodri rudy foden OReilly Cherki Haaland.

Would love to compare salaries and transfer fees between the two teams. Oh Current record transfer fee 880k.

Accept the truth it was embarrassing.
How much time have those players had together? Lots of injuries, lots of necessary chopping and changing yet you're still expecting the same results that we would get from our first choice XI.

Whatever you may think of Spurs, they needed 2 late goals to get back to a draw and that was with 11 men. We lost our most experienced player, artificial pitch, (the bad reverse bounce was the reason Max couldn't control the ball that led to their second), a lot of travelling, difficult to get to place just 3 days after an awkward match, tough run (7 matched in 19 days vs a side that haven't had a competitive match in 6 weeks, all little things that collectively work against you and that's why top clubs have bad runs from time to time.

drop out of CL early could be a good thing. Then someone at the top might put their foot down and stop the rot before it becomes unmendable.
And do what? Sack the manager? Tell the FA, PL and UEFA that we refuse to play a match every 3-4 days? Ban injuries?

This "rot" equates to defeats in the last 15 matches, which until this month included 8 straight wins and since then has seen us score 10 in the FAC and go 2-0 up in the semis if the League Cup with a home leg to play, and wee still 2nd in the league behind the "runaway leaders".

Get a grip man.

Saturday or even Sunday feels way too early for yet another game.
Don't know how they do it.

Loads of injuries , loads of matches and new players arriving all valid reasons for our recent decline , but when you have spent £500m in 12 months dont expect sympathy from anywhere , there was enough experience and talent to beat a team of Norwegian no hopers and we failed miserably. We have some "Spursy" players , Reijnders, Foden , and a couple of others we can mention have one good game in every six , and we aint winning anything if this continues , our tactics are laboured , predictable and painfully slow , that is down to the manager and he has to sort it.
