Spurs (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

Very very Poor today i think the players know something Pep on is way at the end of the season
I see this kind of comment a lot recently and in my mind you'd think the players would do the opposite and give everything for him if they knew he was going.
I'd worry about a players mentality if a decision like that meant they downed tools.
It makes no sense.

This team just doesnt smell blood does it?

Hopefully that will come in time, as i appreciate its a new squad thats relatively young

The City of a few years ago would have gone for the throats after the first goal, but this current squad just stand off and amble around waiting for something to happen

We should have been out in that 2nd half throwing everything at them to get a 3rd goal, but no, we stood off let the crowd get into it and lo and behold we concede two goals in 10 minutes

When the wheels fall off in a game, we just simply are not able to realign them

We on the hash brownies at half-time?
And this character seems to have been doing a HT talk...every fecking week. The worst and depleted Spurs team in years, the quiettest I've been to their stadium and we play like "that"?!?!?!?

I gave up on this team some time ago, I even said I don't like it and had shit thrown at me. Now I start hating them for what they turned out to be. Every time I go to a game I am excited, just something in my bones, even when I am aware we are going to have a shit HT, as we've been having it for 2 1/2 seasons ago. But then we were good enough to have a proper lead before retreating into ourselves. And we stopped being good and the avalanche of bad everything started. Apart from Donnarumma who is a proper lad, and Bernardo who seems to have finally realised we've been crap and is pissed off about it, the rest are just Pep's drones...better to stop this rant what is the point, the more I try to see into future the less of future is see.
Just bring on NCU, this is now literally game-by-game business, the whole picture is ripped to pieces, even if we have one good game in the sea of crap and mediocrity I'll be happy man.

This was disappointing, especially given Spurs’ current situation. The atmosphere was strange today, their fans felt really apathetic. In the first half we should have put the game to bed. We played some really good combination football at times but eased off, could have been three or four goals up.

Cherki was outstanding, silky and intelligent on the ball, with a great feel for the game. I don’t think Haaland and Semenyo together is a great balance, but when you have someone like Cherki alongside them it can work. The problem is when you take him off and the replacements are Reijnders who’s still settling and a low confidence Foden. You just can’t replace that level of control and creativity.

On top of that, we have so many injuries. Doku is out, Diaz out, Rodri has only just returned, Gonzalez is coming back from injury, Gvardiol is injured, Savinho is out. When you’re in a transition like this and lack cohesion, those missing relationships matter more.

Yes, it’s frustrating in the context of the title race, but I’ll take a point away at a ground we traditionally struggle at. The focus now is on regrouping and moving forward. Liverpool will be tough next week but if we get a few key players back and learn from today, there’s every chance we can get a result Anfield especially given how inconsistent they’ve been this season.

The reaction from some people has been completely ott. Calling for Pep to leave is ridiculous and out of touch. It was a draw away, not a disaster. We should support the team, especially with a cup semi final coming up and hopefully a final after that.
Not so sure about some of this. We've beaten them there 3 out of the last 4 in all comps iirc. They are languishing comfortably in the bottom half of the table. Their team was a fair bit patched up. They payed awful 1st half and we should have flattened them then. They upped it a bit 2nd half and we didn't have any response, shocking in fact.

Think we’re beyond that unfortunately.
Think we can all agree our biggest problem is the lack of work ethic and our mentality.
To me it looks like the players aren’t playing for Pep.
So as I’ve said before Khaldoon should get the players in room, without Pep and they need to be asked ‘have you stopped playing for the manager?’
If the answer is no then they need to told in no uncertain terms that they need to start showing it.
They also need to be told that these levels of performance are unacceptable.
If the answer is yes then Pep needs to go unfortunately, but while be noted that these players have thrown our greatest ever manager under the bus.
If the decision has already been made, which also looks likely then we need to be told.
It’s not looking good on that front at the moment. Pep bollocking cherki the other week. Which For me was a brilliant assist. And then today everything seemed ok until he bollocked cherki again. I’ve got a feeling that carried on in the half time team talk and set the tone for the second half

The fans need to know right now and before the Newcastle and Liverpool games
That way we can get all get together and try and give the team and Pep the support in trying to win something

Right now i say we could even lose to Newcastle if we turn up like today

good points raised, however, 2-0 up and cruising to holding on to a point is not good enough.
Haaland seems to be a passenger these days but it’s not just his fault. I can’t put my finger on it but something is seriously wrong at the club. Yes decisions aren’t going our way but I’m not sure Pep’s heart is in it. We should have been throwing the kitchen sink at them after they equalised instead of nothing. We can’t make injuries an excuse today. We are lacking spark, some creativity in the team, Cherki can’t do it on his own.
Please find us a David Silva, KDB or a Yaya, someone who can deliver on the pitch

Just heard Eddie stobart is naming a truck Bernardo silva, they both have a similar turning circle apparently although Eddie would like to be convinced

It was the worst Spurs team I have ever seen. Their fans could not believe the second half. Neither could I.

If Wed night mirrors that 2nd half today it could be interesting to say the least, especially if they take the lead early on. The team need to be up for this for 90 odd minutes with no pissing about.

You know what I think you maybe on to something here ?
totally forget the Cherki moment and the spat on the touchline by Pep.

Little things like that should not be happening and right in front of everybody to see

Wouldn't like to think of the sort of comments we'd have on here if we were in the bottom half of the table and out of all cups.
Six points behind with over forty still to play for, and the arse still having to come to us, anything can happen. Certainly not the time to be throwing the towel in.
Another big game on Wednesday, although you wouldn't think so reading some of the posts on here.
Just one step from another Wembley trip, which is impressive the number of times we've been there in recent years. Prices could be cheaper but they're still not extortionate for a cup semi final.
Four of us will be there, would like to think they'll be many more Blues there and fill the place.
We might have a 2-0 lead but we're not there yet. Let's help them over the line, it's a semi final after all.
A point at spurs ain't that bad.

Trackings out.

Loads to moan about today and everyone is calling the main gripes out.

However, these fine margins they go on about really piss me off, because they usually go against us.

That referee today and the fucking VAR.

That kick on Guehi to put the ball in the net is exactly what VAR was brought in for, yet it's brushed over.

Compare to earlier in the day when Villa were done over.
The ball may or may not have gone out, it was missed.
Next phase and Villa score at the other end, goal chalked off, it's manipulative bollocks.

That chance in the first half where Cheki waltzed through and the keeper palmed it wide, no corner.

Part of me wanted Spuds to score to see what would've happened, we all know; they wouldn't have looked at the error claiming next phase.

The Haaland holding is a joke but he needs to deal with it, at one point a defender was leaning on his back then the other wrapped his arns round his waste, pathetic.

Yellow card 'em then let the corner be taken.

The other one where a defender is sat on the floor and knocks the ball with his elbow, would have been harsh but it is not a natural position.

Finally the 9 minutes added on, about 3 of that was taken with them dragging out set plays.
9 minutes sounds a lot but if you don't have the ball the oppo can make it disappear.

We missed Cherki's creativity when he went off.

Switching Semenyo was a disaster.

Rodri was gasping and his passing was off.

Our subs weaken us because there is a reason Foden, Rejnders, Marmoush aren't starting.

What a season to be shit, when everyone else is!

It's a shame to see this good first half work undone quite a lot this season. Big questions around the sudden change in results into the new year.
