Seat Counters 25/26

Everton didn’t sell out the 1st leg of the semi final against us a few seasons back , and that was with us have an extended allocation of around 4000 !

I’m embarrassed about all those on here who are embarrassed about what some child sat on a computer in Senegal might say about our attendance!

Go if u can ,if u can’t, fine
Well said. We have always had lots of "part-time supporters" and that was the case all through the 60s, 70s, and 80s. It was less obvious in the 90s when Maine Road only held 34,000. I don't care what the fanboys from rival clubs think. Their opinions are worthless. The stadium will be rocking on Wednesday with our "loyal supporters."

I am past caring how many rock up for cup games. What exactly does it signify? Being the McDonalds of football? All the so called big grounds are like a library most of the time, unless we go full German and get some fucker to choreography the crowds I will take what we have now.

Fucking shambles that the clubs behaviour has alienated the fan base so much that we will likely have almost 2 entire tiers empty for a league cup semi. I get the points made previously that we haven't always sold out these games but there has never been such a low take up to this extent. Would also be good to know how many of those attending in the lower tiers have actually purchased a ticket rather than been given one.
Will you be going to the match then? What makes you think two tiers will be empty.

Yes I will, have had to move to North Stand Level 2 from East 3 , yourself???

I think they will be empty as for the last week at least tickets haven't been on sale for them.

Fucking hell !!! If you say so
This thread seems to have been overtaken by a form of mass hysteria. With more and more people posting negative information about the club. It has become a race to outdo each other by postng the most negative comments. A bit like a football version of the Monty Python Four Yorkshiremen sketch. I upset some people when I said that a section of our fans seemed to enjoy revelling in misery. But it's true.

I will be in East Stand Upper as usual and I am sure it won't be "entirely empty." I think the crowd will be over 40,000.

Yeah agreed on crowd size, though I think that ‘choreography’ (that in fact has zero choreography with what’s going on on the pitch) is a bit shite tbh.

1976 semi final v Middlesbrough was around 38.000. The Liverpool semi was 36,000. The Everton Semi was also well under capacity. We hardly ever sell these games out. Being 2-0 up has played a large in the low ticket sales, along with price, it should have been £20.
Boro attendance was 44K , Everton was 50K

Never known things as negative as now though. I honestly think this forum reflects the state of the country. I met some Spurs fans last night before and after the match. They were moaning about the crumbling state of London more than Spurs. For me football is the only thing that keeps me going these days.

West Ham 2014 was 30k Burton 32k and they had a big turnout. Bristol City 43k with another big following.

We’re negative because the club has driven thousands of supporters away by ridiculous pricing, processes to get tickets, policies in transferring them, policies in selling them through glorified ticket touts for even more ridiculous prices, the refusal to sell proper season tickets (allowing numbers to dwindle) and doing so with massive shortsightedness that will harm our club going forward. If you’re not angry about it, you either don’t know what’s going on or you don’t give a shit about City’s support going forward, it can’t be neither.

The hysteria is someone quoting attendances from fucking 1976 as some sort of evidence as to why 40,000 or less this coming Wednesday is normal. It isn’t, we’d have pissed 50,000 for this game just 2-3 years ago.

If it's the Everton match I'm thinking of it was about 65k it was bloody dangerous that night
Think the Everton game was given as around 52000 but of course there was always the Peter Swales adjustment factor ! The semi first leg v Liverpool where we were robbed by Alf Gray was I think stated around 48k.

My post was an attempt to show that the Newcastle game not selling out isn't unusual for a League cup semi final.
I don't like the way the club have acted over the ticketing issue either, the issues started when they decided you could buy loyalty.
