It's all bollocks.
I am not saying that other clubs don't get bad decisions. Referees and VAR are human, they can fuck up. What I am saying is that it didn't take the PL and PGMOL long to realise that a few words in their pre-game meetings along the lines of "this is a high-profile game, let's not blow for every little thing and ruin the flow of the game. And no early yellow cards, and no red cards at all, if possible" means that the small, fast, skilfull team is going to get fucked over by the big, strong, dinosaurs.
Whichever way you dress it up, refereeing some games differently to others is bias and unfair competition. They know what they are doing.
And the pressure under which it must put referees - they are asked to perform differently in a few games from the way they instinctively have done throughout their careers. They make decisions in a split second and they know what a foul is, whatx warrants a yellow card or a red card. But they have to second-guess themselves, in effect. Ask anybody who has performed a "muscle memory" routine for ten years what happens when they are told to change it for ninety minutes.
Is it any wonder it's all such a shit show?
