Pep Guardiola - 2025/26

They're not hard to spot. Call our players mercenaries. Call the manager out at every opportunity. Put so much energy into being negative on a City forum the only explanation can be they're sad little closet rags. Probably idolise Ferguson from a distance.
100%.

Your closing comment is ludicrous. Pep is very clearly showing signs of burnout. It's to be expected given the exceptional level he's been working at for nearly ten years.

He'll want to see out his contract, but I don't think he's stupid enough to make himself ill doing so.

It's perfectly normal for fans to point out what they see as a 'drop' in performance and to offer their own opinions on the reasons. Fans have done this since football started.

It's the same for the media. Like many fans, they've seen 'peak' City go into (relative) decline over the last 18/24 months and they've also witnessed Pep's frequently erratic behaviour in press conferences, interviews, and on the touchline.

Pep's been the best, probably still is, but an increasing number of fans, and many in the media, can see that the end is nigh for him at City. It's called progress, it's what happens in the real world. If it's not addressed quickly and properly, there could be negative impact on all parties.

You come across as being so entrenched in the 'cult of Pep' that you expect him to stay in the job until he drops dead.

What are you seeing that suggests Pep is about to drop dead? He's not the sort of man to stick around if his heart isn't in it.

And what would your expectations be of Maresca or anyone else who replaced him? 2nd in the league, compete in all other competitions? Because that's exactly what we're currently doing despite losing a whole host of club legends and key players to significant injuries in recent times.

Only recently.

Throughtout the season we've scored the most goals and the most from open play.

We've also won a number of games by the skin of our teeth. Many on here don't like that and want 5 nil wins but we've had pretty exciting wins.
I am not sure that is too impressive when you see the teams we are up against.

Arsenal would rather score from two corners and win 2-1 than score 5 from 30yrds and win 5-1.

In general we have been feeble, CL we got in the top 8 at the last second and we should be thankful Villa are as intent as we are at falling over our own feet. This place has been taking the piss out of the rags all year and they are right on us.

Posters are rightly calling for patience because Pep has transformed the face of this great club but I would still want to know whether we will ever get the treble centurion season Pep back ?
If not shouldn’t it make more sense to find an alternative.
I don’t have the answer but the club would and should have an answer to this question!

That is a ridiculous high bar to judge anyone by.

There's a reason a treble has only been done twice in the history of the Premier League and we're the only one to have reached 100 points.

It's not happening again any time soon with Pep or anyone else.

1. I haven't said that he's about to drop dead. I suggested that some fans seem to want him to stay until he does.

2. I would expect any new manager (head coach) to do their best, and would hope that the club can maintain a good level of success in the future. I certainly wouldn't expect anyone to achieve the freakish level of success that we've achieved under Pep Guardiola.

I've been watching City for 65 years... through good, bad, and indifferent times. I've seen it all. There's no way I would expect us to maintain or even repeat what we've seen over the past 15/16 years.

I'm not worried about it. It's not my problem. Like most (if not all FOCs like me), I just sit back and enjoy or tolerate it. It's only football.

The only person who has continually been ludricrous is yourself.

You've admitted you wanted him gone halfway through the treble season. I mean wtf? I don't care for your reasons for it, it was ridiculous and you've doubled down on it ever since.

Would have been like rag fans wanting fergeson out halfway through their treble season.

You are so entrenched in being Pep out it's hilarious of you to say anything of the sort to anyone else.

Please don't reply, we don't agree, leave it at that.

I've never 'doubled down' on anything. I said that he should have gone after we won the CL, and I stand by that.

There's nothing wrong with disagreement, it fosters discussion. Sometimes we get too entrenched in a particular view - like both of us now. It doesn't mean that I disagree with everything you say, and vice-versa.

I'd be happy to have a friendly pint with any Blue on here, except Billy Shears of course.

Fair enough mate.

I'm not saying Pep should be here forever, but I do want him to stay and finish the rebuild. I also think some are very harsh in their criticism and leave out context etc or have a recency bias with the last 5 or 6 games.

Not sure being the forum’s biggest Pep out advocate tallies with you sitting back and tolerating it!

I don't think I'm the 'biggest', just one of the earliest. He's been absolutely brilliant for the club, the best coach in living memory. I just think that he (and the team) has been in decline (whether through health, personal circumstances, or lack of high quality players) since we won the CL.

I've sat back and enjoyed / tolerated much worse football than the past 9/10 years. It's only football.

If Guehi and Semenyo are eligible to play tomorrow, play the same lineup as Spurs except starting Marmoush over Haaland and maybe Gonzalez over Rodri. Then at Liverpool, bring Haaland back in with O'Reilly going to left back and Gonzalez taking his place in midfield.

Guehi is not available.
