Is the league, for want of a better word, ‘bent’?

Doesn’t mater if we are playing shit. In fact it now matters more because the corruption now is affecting the results. At our best it didn’t.

It matters because it is corruption first and foremost and every football supporter should be concerned at that.

PGMOL is deciding the outcomes of games by their actions.

The use of corruption in order to do so is the issue.

Anyone who thinks City and the red clubs are treated equally is being naive.

There were some really poor decisions against us in previous seasons, but we were a cut above as a team and the mistakes didn't matter in the end. Now the decisions matter because we are in the midst of a deep rebuild and are several pts off the top.

I think Pep and some players feel disgusted.

Referees need to stop trying to manage the games for the entertainment industry. They are there solely to interpret the laws of the game and that should be their only remit. If a foul merits a yellow (or even a red) in the first minutes of the game then it should be given as such ergardless if it leaves a team at a disadvantage. It should be up to players and managers to regulate their behaviour. Unfortunately since the proliferation of TV games this isn't the case.

If only it was that simple.

Where is Howard Webb when these issues are swirling round in chaotic fashion ?

because we're utter shite and we're looking for a get out clause.

The league isn't bent, we're wank. And a massively boring team to watch.
Wrong thread. If we are that, what's the rest apart for Arsenal?

When Solanke's first goal was given, Gary Neville was insisting that it wasn't a foul whilst I was looking at a blatant foul in slow motion. I don't mind so much that the match official missed it but it should have been blindingly obvious to VAR.

Now we have journalists like Henry Winter calling for a ban for Rodri pouring acid on an open wound. These journalists are not interested in the game but in their profile amongst the embittered Arsenal, Liverpool and Man Utd milieu.

Exactly.
You just have to ask 'what kind of football do we want',
and then set the way of reffing to achieve that.

We don't want cheating anymore? Time wasting?
We don't want wrestling and all sorts of handling in the box and anywhere else on the pitch?
We don't want dangerous fouls as the fixture pile-up is out of control anyway and the costly players can't play the way they should?

So the obvious answer is, PL want all that. Otherwise they would react, but they don't. Why, would be the question nobody asks.

I think PL is defending their global market position to promote their product as 'most physical league in the world'.

Back side of that medal is the consequence that you strengthen the defence while attacking football gets more and more complicated.

Many good ballers - we have some in our squad - don't see daylight in PL as the game in England is just completely different to elsewhere.

Funny enough, there's another advantage for that PL way:
it's going 100% against Pep's way to play football with the type of players he wanted to have to do it. So I'm back to the topic to say PL - btw in an ongoing legal battle with us.... - is doing everything to give us a hard time.

I feel for our players as I know how it feels when the ref has left the fair ground. You just feel you can't win anyway and then it's already under your skin and in that emotional, upset moment you're not focused to play your normal game.

Refs know it.

Actually I would insist that a new season isn't being started before a final verdict about the legal case is being published. Media can drag us through the mud as they like. We need a definite end to that story.

Just had a look at the Bluemoon thread on the cafe. This thread has made it onto there.

And what do you know, the replies are like what you’d read on here, but about us getting away with all sorts, paying refs etc etc etc.
Perhaps you'd be happier over there, at least you'd have something you could agree with.

I thought this was interesting.

An ex-ref making shit up as he goes along with the Solanke "non-foul".
When you've got morons like that as refs, it tells you all you need to know. He's fucking clueless and makes a very poor attempt at defending the indefensible.

What pivotal decisions that have gone against Arsenal this season are they complaining about?
Go and watch them..try complain about bias refereeing all the time...I'm not saying it is....its their fans who are saying it....it will happen in all sets of fans that's the point

I believe they are absolutely controlling the outcome of some games. It definitely isn't zero.

Proven cases of corruption in foreign leagues including referee's being involved in some of those cases. Multiple proven betting scandals, and yet the PL, the most financially lucrative league in the world is squeaky clean?

Horseshit.

But this is not bad referring only. Sure, the refs have missed really obvious stuff but looking at incidents only once in real time you might conclude they've just made a mistake. The point is how can VAR miss things with multiple replays and then produce bullshit excuses?
That's the question. Furthermore, how do the rags and dippers have the same sort of stuff in their favour? It's all to keep an agenda going and the money coming in
Because as human beings we all see things differently. I think it was a foul on Guehi...some won't think it...I think Rodri was lucky to stay on the pitch...others won't. Unless you have robots refereeing or on VAR then it's down to individual interpretation of a set of defined rules...what is and isn't a foul is subjective at times and also changes based on the individuals interpretation of what happened in that one moment. Utd fans have whinged all year long about VAR decisions and do every season....Arsenal fans don't fucking stop crying about them

So scrap VAR and what will people do...go back just to fucking whinging about the ref or linesman!

At the end of the day, what this boils down to is some excuse making cause we didn't win a game and we were shit. People aren't able to cope with it so go on the defensive.

How many threads are there on this main page that are just about performance of the team....i don't think there are any and that is telling....most are some form of bitching and moanng about refs, media, etc.....no one is able to actually look at soley the performances of the team ( yes there are threads about individual players performances) subjectively without coming up with fucking excuses....

The team doesn't improve cause of crying about decisions. It only improves by looking at tge mistakes it makes as that is the only thing we can control.

Rodris comments are stupid and if he gets banned for them than that is on him big time. He should know better and all he has done is weaken the team

It’s definitely bent. All professional sport has an element of persuasion. We’re also a bit hitty/missy at the moment which makes it matter a bit more. Have a look a the bad sports library of documentaries on Netflix. It’s all sport.
If you believe that then ultimately it's pointless to watch isn't it?

He’s entitled to his opinion, because as human beings we all see things differently.
You’re entitled to your opinion but I disagree that his comments are stupid.
He has raised three weeks of legitimate contentious decisions against our team. Not sporadic, week after week.
That in itself justifies raising a concern.
If the FA ban him for speaking his mind, that will feed straight into the corruption consensus / conspiracy (depending which side of the fence you’re on)
Hopefully it makes the PGMOL raise their game, I won’t hold my breath.

We will find out tomorrow and when we play the dippers, then see if our participation in four competitions is halved !

Since I was a kid I’ve pretty much followed most sports. Grandstand was always on all day sat and after that sky sports new was the wallpaper. Over the past 30yrs I’ve whittled that down to city matches and England RU matches. I dont bother with much else due to the instagramming of most sports folk and obvious creeping manipulation of results. Im gradually moving away from watching city in person and can see a future where I don’t bother at all. So to answer your post I’m slowly beginning to agree there is no point in watching anymore.
I mentioned it to you previously but the bad sports collection of documentaries on Netflix is defo worth a go. It covers various sports and is done quite well.
