Pep Guardiola - 2025/26

Two things here for me politics and football don’t mix keep one and another separate (maybe same for should be said to pep) every one can have an opinion on both rarely anyone will ever agree 100 percent, what I do believe is there is a pep performance page on his football decisions this one and a page to discuss politics on another maybe that should how it’s kept?

Fully agree with a lot of Peps political points as a lot align with how I feel, however... do Your job and concentrate on the footy ffs. Please leave the politics for when You decide to give this managing lark up.

We are STILL not doing the basics as a football team, if I was campaigning and my work output had taken a nosedive i'd be out of a job, get on the pitch with the coaches and teach the lads in how to defend, take good corners, forwards passing etc.

I actually suspect it's a rather clever way of manufacturing an exit, his views will mostly not align with that of our hierarchy.

Has to start earning his salary for the season from now on. No excuses, yes we have had injuries but the issues we have are by Pep’s design at the moment.
High line - this makes it piss easy for teams to camp and hit on the counter or jump on errors from long balls. It’s been out Achilles heal for 2+ years now and he needs to figure out how to stop it.
Slow low energy ball retention - when we play a bit faster there is no team that can match us, however we only do this in small bursts or not at all, Pep needs to impress ball retention but faster movements.
Low risk football - the team have been brainwashed into not taking risks, Erl makes so many runs, great runs, that if team mates took more chances would lead to lots of goal opportunities/ goals. He gets maybe 1 through ball per game, we have to use his runs more (not saying every run but let’s change it up a bit and allow for creativity).

I think politics and sports should mix. For example, it should stand for compassion, respect and human decency. Sport should be a carrot to entice good social behavior.

But people have a day job too and right now Pep has a huge challenge so I'd expect him to knuckle down or let someone else try to lead the way.

(Also I agree that with politics it's difficult to avoid hypocrisy and avoid being unfair on someone. It's a balance but isn't everything in society a balance. I think if decent people, like Pep, lead the way then there's a hope that overall kindness trumps everything else. Flower power brother......or sister ....or other? [oh shit])

It’s quite telling which people hadn’t actually watched the press conference when they’re bitching about him not explaining the football side of things, because he spoke a lot about that too, about the way the team is progressing and why we’re not lasting 90 mins.

So much in that presser. I heard the comments he made were about all suffering of the innocent not just the two or three examples he gave. He spoke as a human being about injustice and suffering in the world not what was right or wrong politically. Anybody finding fault with him is simply mis interpreting what he said.

What a **** that last reporter fishing for a quote.

We will never, ever, see a better coach or human being than this man. Lets enjoy him while we can.

Or maybe people are just commenting on the bits they don't think relevant to his actual job? You know as fans of the Club We are ALL invested in.

There will be a fair number of our supporters (certainly not Me as i've said above, his views align with Mine 99% of the time) that will be annoyed with Who He has and hasn't chosen to represent in his political bit of the presser, its dangerous territory and He knows that, that's why I don't agree with politics in sport, is he going to condemn Trump and tell players not to go to the World Cup?

It was a great presser, the bonus being the worst of the worst of our fanbase won't be able to help themselves and will out themselves on here shortly. Already had 2 but those already been deleted. Expect a few more as the day goes on.

We have a few posting on here so not a shock. Hateful cunts.
Hateful but symptomatic of a challenge that society has.

City should help address this. So should the PL.

The poster above should be offered some carrots to see if with some education he'd understand better what reality is for many of the people he is blaming for being born elsewhere or of different skin pigments or different cultures. And hopefully he'd see the kindness and fragility that exists in the vast majority.

And then the poster should be offered the stick if he just can't get his head around decent behaviour. City or the PL should ban him if he promotes hatefulness continuously.

Just avoiding these opinions allows them to fester - like in the US. Imo the government should provide funding to help with this at every level of sports.

Peace out!

Masterclass of a press conference reading some of the embargoed stuff tonight.

What a guy.

You literally couldn’t ask for more. He was enjoying himself immensely, tore into journalists criticising Rodri, gave lots of little insights into the state of things on the pitch and then teed off on the state of the world and why he feels the need to speak up about things going on.

From start to finish you watch it and this is a guy that is 100% committed to City and full of fire. Instantly puts out any talk of being burnt out or jaded or getting ready to leave halfway through his contract.

His little exchange with Sam Lee where he thanked him for being the first journalist in 10 years to ask him WHY he does these things also showed he’s not surly and sarcastic and disengaged either, he’s just waiting for a question that doesn’t bore him to death.

He's a pretty remarkable guy, and we're lucky to have him at City. In an age where most managers and players just trot out banal, anodyne nonsense to the media, it's refreshing to see someone talk so passionately about real-world issues that obviously mean a lot to him. He'll be a huge loss to the game as a whole, not just City, when he eventually leaves.
