Sir Keir Starmer

If they have any sense they will let him limp to May, get hammered in the May elections, then bin him off. No prospective new leader would want to be at the helm for that likely bloodbath - at least they can then unfurl a “under new management” banner without their brand being damaged.
I dunno that was the already accelerated succession plan until this time last week ... and it was already subject to blowback from the upcoming by election let alone the collateral damage caused by a political scandal across the Atlantic. Doubt Macmillan had friendly fire from your special relationship on his bingo card of 'events' ;-)

Regardless of whether they made him ambassador or not there would have been a degree of blowback cos his fingerprints are all over this dismal project. By refusing to keep him at arms length and choosing the path they did they abandoned all plausible deniability.

Need a deep cleanse before any banners come out.

Poor old Wes Streeting.
He should be in pole position to succeed Kier baring in mind that Andy Burham isn't in the house and Rayner has a tax investigation hanging over her.
But no...
Wes Streeting's number 1 mentor is non other than...
... Yes you've guessed it. Peter Mandelson!

even though starmer was a too level QC.
Depends on how you would frame ‘top’. He made it to DPP, so clearly not without ability, but as a fearsome advocate, or an intellectual titan with a truly brilliant legal mind? Not even close.

That doesn’t mean he would have been shit; highly unlikely, but there’s no way he would have been viewed as one of the best criminal QCs of his time. Not a fucking chance. I would hazard he was a pretty average advocate. And that’s only dealing with his practice area. The smartest KCs (although definitely not the best advocates) are commercial silks. They are on another fucking planet, intellectually. That’s why they get the big bucks.

So, no way was Kier Starmer a top level QC.

I hope Dan Jarvis gets the gig.
I have nothing but respect for this guy.
But sadly this is the Labour Party.

Thanks for that groundbreaking revelation ... I mean who'd have known

Let it go... several governments, of both hues, have been in a position to amend/correct/change these. They have not.

How exactly should have later governments amend/correct/change the selling off of national assets? The march to strip out expertise in our public services whereby they are reliant on bloodsucking consultants. The greed is good doctrine.
There may have been some things they could have done but the substantive damage was done.

You don’t let history go.

Once again we are in the position of the person in charge more bothered about keeping his job than actually doing his job.

Keith campaigned on Tory sleaze and chaos, and has brought even more sleaze himself.

Not really. Thatcher introduced neo liberal economics along with Reagan and began dismantling the state and selling it off to market forces. Every successive government has continued this process.

so yeah really then, as I said
