Don't hold your breath. The last station commissioned was 30 years ago and the stock built in the 70s is near end of life. Don't worry though, Miliband's windmills will keep the lights on.

Intermittency is just not a real problem for the sector. Wind levels are consistently high enough to power turbines over 90% of the time, and when the wind isn't blowing in one part of the country it is elsewhere. But even if we did experience a wind drought, that's why Miliband & co are increasing the number of gas powerstations and bringing on the 2 nuclear reactors.

The bigger problem is that we generate too much power with wind and don't have the capacity to take it, but that's being addressed by the deal they made last month to connect our windfarms to EU ones, so when we have extra capacity we sell it to them and vice versa.

It would be extracted by international oil companies - sold on the international markets and sent all over the world for refinement. You do realise there is no UK Govt owned company or chain of companies capable of doing any of this?

You do realise that the North Sea Industry supports around about 1200000 jobs in the UK. Aberdeen's economy is totally dependent upon it

Anyhow renewables broke the 50% mark recently and they are the future whatever obstacles pillocks try to put in the way.

Clean air also saves lives and improves health but who needs that:-)

They're all sub companies that are given money to build and supply to one supplier. And if they go wrong? Fire etc etc. Guess what the company goes bust and no body picks up the clean up bill.

What is even funnier is that when it blows too much they have too switch the turbines off as there is no real system for storage. At the same time we then pay them a subsidy for the not being used. It makes the Water Industry look like a great deal

Increasing gas power stations but simultaneously banning gas field exploration? Explain the logic of that one to me.

It’s not my job to personally educate you on this, but you can go and look up the fact that we export most of our natural gas because we don’t have the storage for it.

So we don’t need more gas fields to meet our demands, and Labour have extended the deal for our largest gas storage facility and are increasing its capacity by 50% so in the rare instances we do need it we have the production, storage and powerplants.

Honestly some of you should just go spend an hour reading about this from somewhere other than the Telegraph and GBNews instead of continually trying to throw up these gotchas like it’s something the entire fucking energy industry has never thought of.

Again, an issue which has already been fixed, we’ve exported £1.6Bn of excess wind power in the last 2 years and just signed on to a project connecting our largest wind farm to EU power grids so we can sell the excess.

It’s not my job to educate you on this and you can go and look up the fact that we are a net importer of gas. I am well aware of why we export gas.

So I will ask again, why would a government who is looking to increase our gas consumption ban our ability to extract more ourselves? In simple supply and demand economics it will push the price up, particularly as other countries follow a similar approach to stabailise electricity production in conjunction with green sources.

It would help if you also included the cost of the of the electricity we have imported in the same period. Or do you do just selective figures

As you might gather I do not give a monkey's who will extract it. In the same way given the ownership of Wind Farms you do not give a monkey's who owns them.

so basically you just believe the Reform sound bite shite then? We have solar when its sunny and wind when there's wind that supplements existing provisions. Following the Reform plan you endorse would mean we would be reliant on imported oil for 100% of our needs
