Upon reflection I overreached there. Of course doing bird would make his life even worse. So I retract that. But to suggest his quality of life hasn't been hugely diminished by this is preposterous. To have been subject to such deference and respect (however unwarranted) throughout the course of your life, and for it all to vanish would be agony for anyone to take.

This will have completely broken him.

It will....... apparently he now only has one servant ..... and will for the first time in his life , today , have to open the front door himself.

How the other half live eh?

While it is totally a personal choice, it's not one that is free from consequences for both those who take it and ultimately for those around them - and you should realise it is also a position of immense privilege to be able to reject freely offered medical support from people who have dedicated their lives to improving people's health outcomes for what is ultimately shit pay, and even shitter working conditions. Like... a proper first world problem.

If I had rejected the advice of doctors and decided to not put anything they recommended into my body, I frankly would have been dead 20 years ago.

My wife's family are from Angola, and that country's most destitute would walk miles to get the basic care and vaccines we have readily accessible just so their infants don't die before the age of five - because they have seen first hand what a world with no vaccines or medical infrastructure looks like.

Being anti-vaccine is a position you can only really take if you have the luxury of not having to worry about the downside risks of not being vaccinated. And usually that's because somebody else more vulnerable is living with that risk.
This is a great post and deserves more than just a 'like.' People who live in the comfort of the first world are increasingly taking their good fortune for granted. I would like to hear from 'deniers', how life expectancy went from the 30s in the pre-vaccine era to the 70s today. Or then again, I am not sure I want to hear anything from them.

haven't seen all of this but did Trevor Phillips for the record and full disclosure divulge that Mandelson was best man at his wedding? I mean he wouldn't want to come across as someone maybe deflecting from his mate and onto Starmer

Yet some of the ones who have never stopped moaning about vaccines are happy to jab themselves with mounjaro to lose weight...
Indeed.
I know of a few who also have done Botox.

How they square that with being anti-vax…

Mounjaro is starting to get some evidence that it causes pancreatic issues and another organ -( gall bladder?)

But hey, that’s fine as it’s a deeply personal choice as to whether you take it or not, and you’ve examined all the possible longterm side-effects that have contra indications, but you want that beach bod and face ready for the summer

With the possibility of ending up in hospital causing more of a drain on the overstretched NHS
