Liverpool (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

Didn’t see game, thankfully Sky telling me we were lucky and should’ve been down to 10

To everyone who was at Anfield today drink that in. 4th win in 54 attempts, first win with a crowd since 2003 and first double over Liverpool since 1953. Enjoy it guys. Coming back from 1 down at Anfield to win...absolutely buzzing.

And that's on top of them spending £450m.

Our midfield is nowhere near as dynamic as it should be, which affects overall balances. We are not as creative and competitive as we should be offensively (against low blocks, for example), and not as solid as we should be defensively.

Our midfield problem is really that it lacks creativity. Bernardo is brilliant in these games but he's lost all that creativity he had when he arrived, Nico is still learning midfield and he plays some nice chipped passes and link play but not really a killer ball and Rodri is lacking it since he came back. Compared to the old days of Fernandinho-KDB-Silva and it looks very workmanlike. As a result we had the 3 forwards looking to run in, but no one who could really feed them perfect passes and we ended up with half chances instead of big ones.

Having said that, it's probably why we won today and we didn't in all the games with those 3. All 3 of the starting midfielders put in a massive shift physically and defensively.

Hopefully Phil's form will recover, Cherki will get a bit more physical and defensively astute, and they can be creative options in midfield again.
