Haaland fouls, goal can't be awarded. Why go back to the advantage though, they usually do that when there is no advantage gained.

The only advantage from a DOGSO is a goal or a clear attempt at goal (ie if Haaland got there and spooned it wide).

So when Haaland fouls back and stops the play, we didn’t get any advantage, hence the red.

Haaland fouls Szobozlai = goal can't be awarded.

So they go back to the advantage being played, and if Szobozlai hadn't pulled Haaland back, he'd have gotten to the ball first and scored.

So it's DOGSO and a red.

It's 100% the right decision, you can't criticise the VAR or Pawson for doing their jobs. You can maybe have the "do we want VAR" argument again but it was refereed completely by the book.

How can it be DOGSO when neither Haaland or Szobozlai touched the ball? Cherki hit it and it went in it had fuck all to do with Haaland and Szobozlai having a tussle.

He denied Haaland from gaining control of the ball in front of an empty net. In denying this, it then allowed him to be able to gain control of the ball himself, which Haaland then denied by fouling him back.

If no fouls occur, that ball isn’t ended up in the goal by itself. It’s either being scored by Haaland or cleared by Szoboszlai.

Too harsh on Marmoush, hes been a threat, hes been fighting. He could do much better, but it was good enough today.

Haaland gave us assist and a goal when we needed him most, no point to single out what game he has had, he been fighting as well.

Semenyo is a worst take of yours here. Semenyo been working his socks off today. Again. It’s just that nothing comes out of his ideas today, but hes obviously good enough quality wise.

All three fwds were poor today, the final pass, the work rate, not good. I won’t let a great result hide that fact.

Haaland hasn’t been good for a while, I think you have to acknowledge that, hopefully a balls of steel pen kick starts him again.

Semenyo, will have to improve, no doubt, I feel he will, when he gets into a rhythm.

Marmoush, yes, he can be a Jonny on the spot, he’s capable of good moments, but his general play is really poor, and he’s physically and mentally weak. He won’t be with us past the summer.

I'm absolutely delighted to eat my pre match words, delighted!
We won, but im still not quite sure how. We really should have scored a couple of goals in the first half before our now predictable second half fall off came. Liverpool missed some big chances before scoring a worldie and i thought that was that. Step forward the magnificent never say die Bernardo and then Haaland commendably kept his nerve under immense pressure to score the penalty. No idea what Allison was doing there Nunes was going nowhere.
Striking off the third goal was a travesty but once Haaland had fouled their player they had to.
I'm really hoping this win turbo charges us from now until the end of the season. If it does who knows how it could end?

Fouling Haaland denies him from scoring the goal and allows Szoboszlai to then get to it and clear it. That’s the point. Only Haaland fouling him back allows the ball to go into the net without anyone touching it.

so i will agree the decision today was probably “correct” but to what end ? Just give the goal

Incompetent refs are getting calls wrong , though in fairness pawson gave the goal, and the incompetant var officials are getting it further wrong. It stinks

Var should be for black and white calls, over the line or not, inside the area or not, but they need to stay away from calls that are just an opinion
