VAR Discussion Thread

Actually screwed Liverpool as they now have their best player suspended

Didn’t affect the result. Now if it had been 1-1 at the time it would be different
Boy if that happened at 1-1, there would probably be actual violence lol.

Doesnt matter, missing the point there.

That was a pathetic decision.
It was absolutely 100% the correct decision

Now if it is within the spirit of the game you can debate but what is not up for debate is within the rules it’s the correct decision

Then again Alisson wouldn't have been out of his goal at 1-1.

Absolute fucking joke of a decision, hilarious to see some of the 'by the letter of the law it was correct' reactions. Decision made no logical sense whatsoever
Haaland is going to score and is fouled. Ref plays an advantage

Haaland in turn clearly fouls the defender stopping him from clearing the ball

wtf do you want the officials to do? You’re seriously expecting the officials to ignore the laws of the game?

That’s true. Why he stayed up after the set piece only he knows. Thankfully it wasn’t his only error in judgement lol

The debate is whether var is ruining the spirit of the game. And today, it did

Ref gave it, it was morally correct to give it, var should keep their beak out

I think some of us have been conditioned into accepting that we will be screwed over each game. Liverpool get that at their end and not a word is said by anyone.

So why didnt the referee blow his whistle ? Refs are allowed to use discretion, its why they often play advantage, its why the liverpool player wasnt booked after 10 minutes for a blatant shirt pull. Today Pawson used his common sense and discretion. It was a goal, he should have had the courage to stand by his decision, sadly he didnt.

I moan about VAR but VAR got it right today for the last minute 'goal'.

Haaland is folded stopping him getting to the ball.
Haaland then pulls the dippers back stopping him from getting to the ball.

I guess the ref could have ignored what the dipper and Haaland were getting up to.

Yes. He played advantage with the foul on Haaland.

I’d love to hear your explanation how Liverpool gained on the foul on their defender

I want football in all its warts n all. Var is a failure so id rather not have it full stop.

Today pawson gave the goal. Just give it. If its wrong its wrong

Var should be called only for “was the foul in or out of the area”.
Though they still fuck that up. So god knows
