North Stand Construction Discussion

I think the brick work is mostly fine.

By design, it’s supposed to have a rough and uneven look to it. Almost replicating that feel of a 19th century cotton mill.

There are people on here who think Rodri is finished and we’d be right to sell him so it doesn’t surprise me that this kind of negativity seeps into the construction threads as well.
I get that Hello City.

You're right, that's how it's supposed to look.

But if you go to Ancoats the brickwork on the mills is superb, and that's from the 18th and 19th century.

TBH, I don't know why Populous and City went with brick. They should have gone with coloured facade panels. It's so much easier to install, and would have tied in with the grey exterior of the NS expansion.

Cheap digs are all good and fair, but they have to at least be remotely relevant to count.

I'm glad they went with brick, over facade panels. I'm glad they went with random protrusions, corbelling, and angles to piers etc. The colour does seem a bit clashy, but happy to wait to see it all together. The type chosen though is by default at odds with the detailing, and that shows. One move too many imo, which in fairness I think is a bit of a theme with this one. But ultimately, all that would have imho fallen into line, had they Just taken a bit more care and time when laying it. That's not negativity and thinking Rodri is done, that's just my opinion.

I've already said I think when all done and everything else around it is there to draw focus, it will be fine, and the inside of the city square, where it matters most, might be good. And the efflorescence will eventually wash off. By the time we have climbed back up the pyramid from league 2 to the PL, it will be all clean hopefully. Might even be our next York Away 'I went to watch us when we were efflorescent'.

Honestly mate the only thing they have in common is that they are both red brick, I to like the brickwork but accept it's a bit Marmite.

I’m looking forward to our next 3rd strip with brickwork pattern and efflorescence sash
