Is the league, for want of a better word, ‘bent’?

We could have seen them not award the penalty for nunes yesterday and got away with it. Maybe it is evening itself out now. We will see.

I don't think they could have got away with not giving that yesterday. They've given penalties for that same thing this season and away at Arsenal in 22/23 when Nketiah was nailed by Ederson after getting a shot away. Though that was the first time I remember seeing it.

I believe the rule is that as long as the ball is still in play when the contact is made, it's a penalty if the keeper wipes out a player.

Course they could have, and people all day today would’ve been talking about it. That was 100% a decision that, if it’s bent, on 90+ minutes, they could’ve not give to screw us over and then possibly go and win it after our players had lost their heads. The result? Arsenal go 9 clear.

They didn’t though. It was given on field, on 90+ minutes which allowed us to have the chance to win the game.

I wouldn't actually say it's bent, but would say it's 'tweaked'.

Naive maybe, but I think the individual refs are actually okay. They do their best and try to be fair.

If it was bent against us, Pawson (who wasn't great) wouldn't have given us an injury time penalty. Could easily have hid behind the ball going out, but didn't.

But I do believe that in line with the PL 'strategy' to have different winners, they give the refs directives to help achieve that.

So, ref fairly, but "let's not have unnecessary red cards early in games". If you think City are going to run away with it, "let teams battle and be physical without punishment". Plus, if you want Arsenal to get over the line, then let them do whatever they want at lineouts, sorry setpieces.

I don't think the PL are necessarily against City. They dont mind if we win it, as long as it's a great title race. It's all about the viewers and the money! But it's been us and Liverpool too long, so Arsenal's strengths, which could easily have been clamped down on, are let go.
'Tweaked' is bent.

Any manipulation of the game for any purpose is bent.

Either apply the rules fairly or just admit we're watching WWE style 'entertainment'.

There's fair and there's fair.

No two refs are identical in how they deal with situations - which is another ''control' that is used against us at times. Some are stricter, some more lenient, etc. Give us Oliver in a big game and we're not getting any big decisions, because he doesn't give them. Give us Attwell and we're buggered.

This 100% happens in my opinion. Neville with his “nooooooooo” or “oooooohhh he’s in trouble here” bollocks.

The foul on Marmoush was very much "nah, nothing to see", when they could have been making a big deal of it and looking at replays and closeups multiple times.

We don't pressure refs enough tbh, and that also probably because we've become accustomed to getting nothing.

What’s he gaining from it though?
Alerting VAR to something Sky Sports want the PGMOL to take action on. Remember, the PL is the product and Sky are the vehicle through which it was originally delivered and controlled. No drama = No viewers.

Scudamore's comments ref viewing figures in an interview with Bloomberg a few years ago were very telling:

“there are lots of people around the world who wish Manchester United were winning it (the Premier League) again”.

But they’ve been nowhere near it for almost 1.5 decades? He also said it would be beneficial for a clubs name, a new one, to be on the trophy every 5 years. After he said that we won 4 in a row.

I'm not talking about the interpretation of incidents between different ref's, I'm talking same ref in the same game between teams.

But the same can be said about the other broadcasters who pay the PL an absolute fortune for their licence to show live games. None of the "1 Billion" worldwide Rag's fans are going to be tuning in to watch them get beat every week.

If you think it, fair enough. This entire thread is about options and theories, although last week I was told I was wrong, as though that persons post and option was factual and correct.

Me? I don’t think anyone is listening to Gary ‘failure of a manger and all round embarrassment’ Neville. He’s just a commentator.

For me There's a clear link between what the pundits highlight and what the sports media report or highlight following a live game.

Neville kicked off the whole conversation about ferny doing snidey fouls which then became a media beating stick for us.
He does the opposite about upcoming utd players, telling the listeners Mainoo should be playing for England, or how good Amad is. That's all very good business for utd.

Both carragher and neville have very loud voices for their clubs, sometimes it's good most times it's bad for their club because fortunately they have got a scooby about football. It shocks me how little they know.
But they have influence.

Influence on who? Mike and Bob, the Stoke fans on Facebook saying Fernandinho is a snide? Do me a favour. If you think grown, professional referees are influenced by Gary Neville saying such things, you are naive. Gary Neville has no influence on anyone or anything. People can’t stand him and think he’s a joke with his shrieks and winy voice.

He couldn’t influence a choir boy.

The VAR match commander. The guy looking after the 'product'.
