Greatest Ever Away Day?

Coventry away I think we were 2 nil down at ht
Won 3 2
Can’t remember the year

I was at Coventrys Highfield Road ground for a night game back in 1977 ... we were 2-1 up and looking comfortable with around a quarter of an hour left, yet somehow we ended up losing the game 4-2 !! Bloke named Mick Ferguson grabbed a hat trick.

We were all shellshocked as the cops escorted us in silence back to the station ..... devastating but memorable is how i'd best describe it!

Istanbul is the answer to what was the best and it's a fair distance ahead of any other. We won the European Cup there for the first time in our history - a holy grail for most Blues, particularly those of my age (mid 50s). My parents and Grandparents sadly never lived to see it, and neither did my Father in law who was another lifelong Blue - oh to be able to have 5 mins with them all to tell them.

Myself and my 2 sons were there in The Ataturk representing all those in our family who'd supported the club for generations, to see us reach the top of the mountain of European Club football.

Bradford away 4-2 , finally an away win after about 18 months without one.

I kept thinking I cant miss, as each away game came along. After multiple losses and occasional draws it was great to see a win !
Same, I was discussing this game with David White at a supporters club meeting, my girlfriend of the time, gave me the boot because she wanted me to go with her family to celebrate her uncles birthday. So pleased I made the right. choice and went to the game

Sorry folks but I have to interject that semi finals and finals are the cream. Istanbul. They are not technically away games. They are neutral venues. I am VAR on this.

Kiev not just for the (freezing) football but also because that was such a brilliant city, fantastic, friendly people. The camaraderie among the City fans.

Th impromptu snowball fight in the car park at Stoke(?) with their supporters, ours and the police. I hadn’t laughed so much for ages.

I have been so lucky over the years I can only recall one (mainland) away game where for a day or two I vowed that’s the last away I attend. But the support I received from the club, the Eccles OSC, @Ric and the BlueMooners, who at that time didn’t know me from Adam, made me realise it was only one horrible person and to keep attending.

Loved my football journeys and would do it all over again in a heartbeat if I could.

:-) :-) :-)

Yesterday will be remembered as one of the best ever if we do go on and win the title....who knows what will happen next. I just got the feeling that something changed amongst the players and the fans and we finally broke the Anfield jinx.
Aside from that I'd go for Blackburn 2000 as others have mentioned as well as QPR away in the FA Cup around 1992 I think. We won 2-1 and whilst its a random one it was a top day out.
