Elliot Anderson | Opening bid rejected (p189)

If Rodri remains until end of his contract 2027. Next season will be Rodri’s last season with us. Anderson will have moved on by then….so we will need to replace Rodri in 2027, but with whom?

Wouldn’t it be wise to get a replacement in now, to learn from a master?
Gonzalez will be no 1 holding mid when rodri goes imo

The improvement in him in just a year is massive. Given another year of regular football and the team maturing around him I can only see him getting better. Having said that we need another body in the middle already never mind when Rodri leaves.

I don’t think there the same type of players. Anderson for me would be playing next to Rodri. But O’reily looks ready made for that role
The replacement for Bernardo will be the left-back brought in to pair with Ait-Nouri, as that will free up Nico O.'s move to central midfield. Anderson can then be seen to be the replacement for Kovacic.

Dickhead Mark Goldbridge basically saying Anderson to City is as close as done deal as it can be.

Would anticipate any team wanting to sign him will get it sorted and agreed before the World Cup. Can then focus on the World Cup. Can see his value only increasing if he’s a starter for England.

Too many people saying he wants us for it not to be true. Release clause there as well and I assume a good relationship with their owner as I’m sure Khaldoon knows him business circles and the Mcatee transfer went smoothly

Also did them a solid with Ortega. Hopefully, there's some goodwill.

Can we fully cover Anderson's transfer by selling players?

Akanji
Grealish
Ake
Kovačić
______________

Be lucky to get 40m for those
Probably 60m-ish, plus more from the usual CFG and academy sales - the likes of Kabore etc
That’s still not to be sniffed at when you also consider the wages we’d save from moving them on, plus Stones, Bernie (sobs) and Phillips (please).
That's the real funder.
Plus might be some bigger and more unexpected departures eg Trafford, Savinho, Marmoush, albeit in positions that would need direct replacements

Weekly

Bernardo £300,000
Stones £250,000
Ake £160,000
Kovačić £140,000
Grealish £75,000 (on loan)

As far as wages are concerned, City can easily afford to pay Anderson and Wharton at the same time lol

The problem arises the moment our outgoing transfers can't cover the incoming ones—not even close, it seems—even though we appear to have a surplus of players

Now imagine adding Phillips into these calculations, who isn't going anywhere this summer

Going off the past few games and this new system peps playing, I can see our future 3 being Anderson Nico G Nico O
