Newcastle United (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

Tell you what was good to see.

1. Both teams went for it with no 'low block' shite.

2. No fucking time wasting by keepers.

3. No rolling over and faking head injuries.

4. No lengthy stops for feigning injuries.

It was a good game of football with no real shenanigans.

Agree with all. And I'd add:

5. No calling of the ref to the monitor by VAR. I'm honestly at a point where I'd rather just let them make their mistakes.

Quick question to the flappers on here; how do you think Arsenal fans are feeling after watching us put in a so-so performance, yet get the three points?
I think it will worry them even more because had it been them, they would have conceded a late equiliser.

Idk about you fellas but to me this win feels like a loss because of how we played, ESPECIALLY in the 2nd half. It frustrated me like nothing else this season. We had 1 week of rest and played at home (+should've been massively motivated because of Assna dropping points) while Newcastle had only 3 days and had to travel to f-ing Azerbaijan right before that and played away. Yet we were the ones who played like we haven't had a single day of rest! Midfield constantly overloaded, attack missing sitters left, right and centre while the fullbacks were leaking every time Newcastle was attacking. This was a horrendous display but I feel like barely anyone will talk about it because we somehow won in the end. Our physios definitely need sacking and Pep needs to play Cherki since minute 1, like how on earth are you keeping a player of his caliber on the bench despite him being the only one that brings any sort of creativity (and presence) in the midfield??
Jesus H Christ

Just back, kecks soaked, but happy with the win. We needed that elusive two goal cushion and missed some good opportunities in the second half, they are a whiny dirty bunch, but fuckem and that slaphead **** Shearer. Not sure if we needed Nico G on second half cos they were winning a lot of loose balls. Anyway over to the arses, we did our bit.

Don’t worry the nurse will be around soon with the medication

LOL after penciling this season as over, here comes an unexpected opening or maybe not because it's freaking Arsenal were talking about. I'm still not getting my hopes up but if history is any indication, we are now the most likely team to lift the trophy at the end.

I think it’ll be arsenal.
I hope I’m wrong, I hope we can win it.
But our second half performances are terrible.

One team had a 5000 mile round trip and played a game midweek.
If you watched the game and was asked to guess which one it was I’m not sure many people would choose Newcastle.

My big worry is as the season goes on, as the CL games come back in we’re going to get leggier in second half’s and drop points.

Like I said, I hope we do win it but they have 2 points on us already, they’re having a blip currently, we’ll both drop points and I think Arsenal will hand on.

Don’t get me wrong it’s a good win, it’s a huge result and I’m happy with it. I’m just trying to be realistic.
I think the problem is we have is the midfield three Bernardo is slow, never stops running but he's slow. Rodri is still finding his way back to fitness and Nico O'Reilly when he plays as a midfielder reminds me of Bryan Robson, all action, goals but not a typical City midfielder. Gaps appear everywhere in a football field on second halves, bit our gaps are in the most important place.
Luckily we have some good defenders now and a goalkeeper who is saving us again and again.

But should we not be better fitness-wise in the 2nd half ? Newcastle had an away trip in Europe and City had a week off. Yes I understand this team is a new build and the new players will need to find what it takes to be in a title race
But the 2nd half drop off is a problem.

VERY big win and Arsenal vs Spurs tomorrow could be the key to the title race
I feel like we created more in the second half than we did in the first! We certainly outran them (I was convinced of this, so checked the data). They created fuck all really, especially from open play. We managed the game. Just impressed with both offensive and defensive parts of our game.
