Newcastle United (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

Who do you think can win it then?
I think it’ll be arsenal.
I hope I’m wrong, I hope we can win it.
But our second half performances are terrible.

One team had a 5000 mile round trip and played a game midweek.
If you watched the game and was asked to guess which one it was I’m not sure many people would choose Newcastle.

My big worry is as the season goes on, as the CL games come back in we’re going to get leggier in second half’s and drop points.

Like I said, I hope we do win it but they have 2 points on us already, they’re having a blip currently, we’ll both drop points and I think Arsenal will hand on.

Don’t get me wrong it’s a good win, it’s a huge result and I’m happy with it. I’m just trying to be realistic.

Looked at the final fixtures and there isnt one of them who will outfight us , we are a different team and different tactics , not as easy on the eye , this team can scrap and showed it tonight but we also have match winners all over the squad not just Haaland as the media accused of being a one man team , they are eating their words now.
If we show the same commitment as tonight for the rest of the season , we can put a winning run together and blow the Goons away.

Not sure why £30-40m is wumming? Are we going to sell him for more than that? No. Is he going to take us forward and have longevity? Hopefully. Will he be replaced in a couple of years? Quite probable.

He's been one of our best players this season is only 20yo. He can play anywhere on the pitch .

£30m-£40m is nothing by today's standards. We spent £60m on Gonzalez and NOR keeping him out of the side.

Best overall performance for a long time that.

Some outstanding football but just as fucking good off the ball.

Everyone put an immense shift in. Bernardo and Rodders rolling back the years. Haaland like he’d been on the finest columbian. Guehi cold as ice. Ait Nouri causing havoc with this forward forays. NOR giving us a taste of the next decade with him at number 8.

They fucking wanted that.

Let’s see what the southern fannies are like when the heat really is on.
Agreed. I don’t get the hand-wringing over our second half performance today. We weren’t brilliant but we weren’t terrible. Newcastle are a decent side and you can’t stop a team having the ball for the whole 90.

Tell you what was good to see.

1. Both teams went for it with no 'low block' shite.

2. No fucking time wasting by keepers.

3. No rolling over and faking head injuries.

4. No lengthy stops for feigning injuries.

It was a good game of football with no real shenanigans.
Agree, but apart from Cherki, there wasn't much technical ability on display in that second half.

The game started at 9:00am NZ time - I switched on the OS Match Day feed and set the iPad in the garage so I could keep popping back from gardening to check the score. My wife was in a different part of the garden and kept asking for an update. At 10:45 she said she was going in as the game should be finishing in a minute or so. When she saw there was still 5 minutes plus added time she went back outside as she couldn't bear the agony of the last few minutes. Like a bear with a sore head she kept wandering around trying not to look at her watch. When the feed flashed up FT she dashed inside and sat in front of the desktop computer to see the players leaving the field and listen to the reviews.
It must have been nerve racking for those in the ground but I can assure you that it is just as bad for us.

You must be watching a different arsenal to the rest of us if you think they have what it takes mate.

They aren’t having a blip they just can’t handle pressure.
