Why not Bodo?

I think we would beat them over 2 legs.

We only lost there because Alleyne was wank.
Nothing to do with the quality of opposition to be fair. Just as someone who loves a European away Bodo is a great one off visit but very much once you've been you've done it. Also much harder and more expensive to get to/to visit than pretty much any other destination

Madrid will beat Benfica :(
It bizarre however how their player has been banned for one game.
Racism is unacceptable, but he hasn’t been found guilty.if he’s guilty he is getting 6-10 games so why ban him for 1 ?
Currently he is innocent ,so he should be allowed to play.
Unless UEFA do a speedy investigation prior to the match.
Firstly, all of these absurdly vain and childish footballers who speak with their hands over their mouths should automatically receive 3 match bans and be told in no uncertain terms to get a fucking grip of themselves

And if it can be proved that the accused made a racist comment he should be banned for life - sets a precedent and acts as a real deterrent.

Because his defence is that he made a homophobic insult, not a racist one. Not sure that one is less disgusting than the other. So he’s getting a ban whatever and EUFA keeping him off the pitch for this game, for once, is correct.
He should have just called him a spoilt mard arse for not accepting that Rodri deserved the Ballon d’Or more than a diving twat.

From a football perspective, I hope for Benfica, but realistically hope for Bodo. They've been a revelation and they're football is high tempo madness at times, but I think we've suffered the shock, plus the team we put out in Norway had balance issues. We got pulled apart but i still think we had 3 or 4 glorious chances we didn't take (not that we deserved a draw or anything). I think 2 legs we'd be good

From a fans perspective though, it's tough. Another gruelling expensive trip to the Arctic circle or the 14 millionth trip to the Bernabeu.... I guess we'll just have to see

As I don't go to away matches I would rather see someone at Etihad who I haven't seen before - so that is Benfica or Bodo/Glimt. We should be better than any of them over two legs yet each is tricky and will bring the sort of counter-attacking chaos that can cause us problems.

A lot of attention on Bodø-Glimt here in Norway these days naturally. This is by far the biggest achievement of any Norwegian club on the international scene ever. The job done by head coach Kjetil Knutsen is absolutely stellar. The guy reminds me of Pep in more ways than one. He has taken a team that was relegation fodder in the Norwegian top division and made them a powerhouse in less than a decade. Pure FM cheat code. His main strength seems to be on the team mentality side. Among other things he once hired a fighter pilot to teach the players to stay focused on the job. And it shows. He always goes on the about the performance and tells the players to completely forget about results. His take on yesterday was that he was disappointed of the first half. And Hauges reaction after scoring the first goal was berating his temmate for not passing at the first opportunity because that would have been the right thing to do. These guys are special and should not be underestimated as I'm sure Pep is aware should we draw them.

They are not a great side but they are very good at counter-attacking. As well as Bodo / Glimt have done, I am hoping that we draw them.

The major problem of facing Bodo / Glimt, if that happens, is that the leg at Bodo will be 9-11 March which means the weather could be an equaliser. Last time it was around freezing point but I don't think it affected the game much, but it could be worse in March.

We got lucky with the weather in January (not that it helped our performance much). The weeks before and after the game were both a lot colder at close to -10 which is the expected temperature for that time of year. The week of the game was abnormally mild.
March in Bodø should be nowhere near as cold as typical January weather. Long range forecast for two weeks from now is at around zero in the evening with a few degrees above that in the daytime.

I would be more than happy to face them over two legs, especially with second leg at home. Max Alleyne had a nightmare when we played them in January - I’ll feel a lot more comfortable with Guehi in the team.

Halfway to knowing our options. Inter out, Bodo through.

Bodo/Glimt will face Man City or Sporting.
Atletico will face Liverpool or Spurs.
Leverkusen will face Arsenal or Bayern.
Newcastle will face Chelsea or Barcelona.

To add to this, this is what we're currently looking at:

Arsenal v Leverkusen or Dortmund (beating Atalanta 2-0 on agg, away tonight)
Bayern v Leverkusen or Dortmund (beating Atalanta 2-0 on agg, away tonight)
Liverpool v Atletico or Galatasaray (beating Juventus 5-2 on agg, away tonight)
Spurs v Atletico or Galatasaray (beating Juventus 5-2 on agg, away tonight)
Barcelona v Newcastle or PSG (beating Monaco 3-2 on agg, home tonight)
Chelsea v Newcastle or PSG (beating Monaco 3-2 on agg, home tonight)
Sporting v Bodo/Glimt or Real Madrid (beating Benfica 1-0 on agg, home tonight)
City v Bodo/Glimt or Real Madrid (beating Benfica 1-0 on agg, home tonight)

Best draw probably looking something like this:
L16: Bodo/Glimt
QF: Arsenal/Leverkusen
SF: Spurs/Galatasaray or Chelsea/Newcastle
F: Bayern/Dortmund, Liverpool/Atletico, Barcelona/PSG, Sporting/Real Madrid

I think there's an argument to play Arsenal in the QF.

Obviously them and Bayern are interchangeable.

My best draw is:
L16 Bodo
QF Bayern or Leverkusen
SF winner from Chelsea, Newcastle, Spurs or Atletico
F winner from Arsenal, PSG, Sporting, Barcelona, RM, Liverpool, Dortmund and Galatasaray

Playing Bayern or Leverkusen on the other half of a draw early on could let some big hitters slog it out in my perfect scenario, but in the real world there's so many other options.

We probably will get RM again!

The Arsenal league game is the weekend after a possible QF second leg should we get through the round of 16.
First leg (home) 7/8 April
Chelsea (away) 11/12 April
Second leg (away) 14/15 April
Arsenal (home) 18/19 April

Bodo weather 11th March 2025.....still cold
