Champions League Draw | Full Bracket (p14)

Who do you want in the Last 16 (& which side of the draw do you want for the QF tie)?

Not a chance.

Real look average for their standards, but they have some world-class players and will be up for it. We'll be favourites against them, but it would be better to play Bodo.

Inter had 30 shots last night and 45 over both legs. Bodo were a bit lucky.

I've still picked Bodo, just a minor argument for it.

1 game to be confirmed:

Arsenal v Leverkusen or Atalanta
Bayern v Leverkusen or Atalanta
Liverpool v Atletico or Galatasaray/Juventus (Currently ET)
Spurs v Atletico or Galatasaray/Juventus (currently ET)
Barcelona v Newcastle or PSG
Chelsea v Newcastle or PSG
Sporting v Bodo/Glimt or Real Madrid
City v Bodo/Glimt or Real Madrid

Despite Madrid looking very average tonight, with Bellingham, Mbappe and possibly Militao returning they will be stronger and whilst Bodo won't be a walk in the park I still fancy us to go through.

The Arsenal league game is the weekend after a possible QF second leg should we get through the round of 16.
First leg (home) 7/8 April
Chelsea (away) 11/12 April
Second leg (away) 14/15 April
Arsenal (home) 18/19 April
If we get through in FAC against Newcastle we could also get Arsenal in FAC QF on 4/5 April weekend.
So, with LC final before international break, we would play them 5 times in 6 fixtures and in all 4 "quad" competitions lol :) Now that would be mad...

I just don’t understand why, at this point, that it’s not an open draw. Why are we stuck with Real and BG, why can’t we be drawn against anybody, apart from the TV schedule?

It’s seeded based on where you finished in the league phase which is fairer I think.

For an open draw see FA and League Cups.

Also I think the round of 16 doesn't allow a draw against a team from your own league and as the PL has 6 teams in the pot it left little room for anything resembling an open draw

You can draw a country from your own nation from the playoffs onwards.

PSG played Monaco in this playoff round.

Bayern can face Leverkusen in the last 16.
Chelsea can face Newcastle.

fair enough, but I don't then understand why we don't a choice of all 8 unless it's like the NBA playoffs where the top seeded team plays the 16th Team, etc etc.

Let's be honest, UEFA fought off the superleague, by introducing superleague light !

UEFA's main reason behind changing the format was to eradicate 'dead rubber' games and make as many games as possible in the league phase significant. I'm sure the broadcasters who pay stupid amounts for the TV rights played a big part in that too. They want teams to be fighting for seeding right up until matchday eight rather than resting players like for example Arsenal would have done for the last couple of league phase games this season.
An open draw for the knockout stages would make all that unworkable - the seedings are an essential part of the competition format.

I have a slight preference for Bodø/Glimt.
I think if we're focused in the first leg, we can win by a good margin and rotate the squad for the second leg.

Against Real Madrid, it's going to be a close match. If we qualify, the team will gain confidence to go all the way in the competition, but we could also be eliminated.

For the quarterfinals, I prefer Bayern Munich. If we have to be eliminated, I'd rather it be against the Germans and not those bastards from Arsenal. And if we qualify, I'd prefer Arsenal to stay in the competition as long as possible so they have as many matches as us and don't focus solely on the Premier League.

Firstly, all of these absurdly vain and childish footballers who speak with their hands over their mouths should automatically receive 3 match bans and be told in no uncertain terms to get a fucking grip of themselves

And if it can be proved that the accused made a racist comment he should be banned for life - sets a precedent and acts as a real deterrent.
Ffs, banned for life? Glad you’re not a judge who has to give people a second chance and redemption, that’s so hard line it’s unacceptable.

I'm pretty confident we can beat Real.

Bodo gave us the worst battering in a couple of years, they could genuinely have scored 6.
Freak result and no way will they replicate that, I’d happily take them based on empirical evidence and a change of personnel /formation.
