Denton and Gorton by-election - Green Party wins

Under Polanski the Greens in Denton/Gorton have put their important core environmental agenda aside and used profoundly divisive issues like drugs and Gaza as their flagship policies. This deliberately polarising tactic is from the same populist playbook as Farage, exploiting a complex problem in order to target a specific group of voters but without any genuinely new plans to provide a solution.
Yep, that’s politics everywhere now mate. Divisiveness and polarisation is their game, rather than serious policies to make people’s lives better. And people of both the left and right fall for it. Sorry state of affairs.

I hate to break it to you, but legalisation will completely fuck the dealers up. It's one of the main arguments for legalisation.
Not if it increase the number of recreational drug users - like smoking, even legally permitted pastimes generate a juicy black market. Look at the situation in Scotland - still a dealers paradise despite decriminalization and state provided drugs.

There will always be a black market just like there is with tobacco, illegal vapes etc.

Any legalization would result in high taxes and low strength. People will always want more for less.

I doubt legalisation would increase the number of dealers. A lot of drug dealing is online now anyway, the business model has completely changed in the past few years. It comes in the post, so a lot of those business would probably move to becoming legit. The days of meeting ropey cunts in car parks are generally gone.

Not aware of anything out of order that Starmer or indeed Labour has said about Zack, please supply quotes. The Greens are however quite openly urging the Muslim voters to punish Labour because it supported Israel against Hamas and despite their recognition of the Palestine state. Their recreational drug legalization message is profoundly divisive and nowhere near having wide support in the country at large despite its popularity with the young voters in the constituency.
I did regarding his pathetic claim that Polanski wants everyone on heroine. Plus the tweet by Labour that would have been splashed across the front pages for antisemitism had it been under Corbyn.

You’ve kind of agreed regarding drugs that it’s hardly cure being used as a vote winning policy at the moment. You say it would be popular with drug dealers so i can only conclude you’ve spectacularly missed the point on this one.Dealers voting for it would be as stupid as working classes thinking Nige will help them.

You been to Blackley (or anywhere in north Manchester) recently?

Every other car or e-bike/scooter is a dealer. It's done in broad daylight with absolutely no fucks given.

Where and when did Starmer say that? On recreational drugs legalization you are clearly not familar with the economic law of increasing supply creating increased demand. Who do you think most legal fags are illegally sold by these days?

Why would we want any immigrant over here who couldn’t speak English to begin with? Why should the British taxpayer fund English courses for immigrants who can’t speak English?

Bonkers country.
Honi soit qui mal y pense

You don't know how ridiculous things have got.

Me and my wife, both first gen immigrants from India, have a daughter born here, schooled here, only speaks and reads English. Which we are fine with, maybe sometime we might give her classes in Hindi just for the heck of it.

The interesting bit is, kids have some sort of checkup around 2 years or so, with basic checks on health, development indicators etc - and the lady (some kind of nurse / counsellor) spent a major part of our session berating me for making English my daughter's first language, and for not making her prioritise an Indian language.

That's how mental things are at the government and council level.
Without knowing more, why would you not want your daughter to grow up bilingual?

I agree. The Green Party tactic for this election seems to be let’s talk mainly about Palestine to get particular votes. Things like environmental issues seem to barely get a mention.

I think there’s going to be a lot of dissapointment whoever wins. I keep repeating myself, but combining these areas together under one seat, makes no sense. Very different places and needs

It's an odd thing to say isn't it?

They interviewed that woman who said the country's gone and she wants to leave, then proceeds to say she'd like to move to America cos they have got it right there!!
FFS this is what we're up against.
Wasn't she saying that, because of immigration, she wanted to become an immigrant somewhere else?

Had loads of stuff come through through our door, palestine barely mentioned by the greens.

100% agree though with the merger making no sense. Can blame the tories i think for that decision.
